Cowards.
TheWombatStrikesAgain
They may lose a lot of lawsuits, but they still get their wish: they've created an atmosphere of uncertainity and fear, where people just pre-emptively obey, even though they don't have to. Just to make things easier. Just to avoid the headache of having to go through all that.
We're seeing a fascist takeover, and too many people still don't understand this is happening.
professorcostello
Same story in Wisconsin. It's despicable and sad.

Then the hospital gets to send them to a hospital that can do their f-in job, at the hospital's expense.

Let's fix that headline:
"Federal discrimination based on pseudoscience & bigotry scares clinics & doctors away from providing life-saving medical care for vulnerable youth"

The simple fact is fascists always need an enemy, either internal or external.
The political purpose of the Two Minutes Hate is to allow the citizens of Oceania to vent their personal hatred towards a political enemy. In redirecting the participants' emotions away from the Party's governance of Oceania, the Party minimises thoughtcrime and critical thought while exerting ultimate control of the population.

"For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle. Thus pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. It is bad because life is permanent warfare. This,
however, brings about an Armageddon complex. Since enemies have to be defeated, there must be a final battle, after which the movement will have control of the world." 1/2
PennysWorthOfTea
"But such a "final solution" implies a further era of peace, a Golden Age, which contradicts the principle of permanent war. No fascist leader has ever succeeded in solving this predicament." 2/2

Start with their car, next their house, alway got to give them a chance to see the light.

So. They're trying avoid criminal charges... by ignoring a court order?
Its1447
They are worried about becoming maga targets, like the abortion clinics that get fire bombed
urusername2
I hope the judge shows them how much of a penalty they can get for ignoring a court order!
meganical
If this surprises you, wait until you hear how they’ve left women to bleed to death on hospital floors because they were afraid of lawsuits over state’s forced-labor laws. They fear political wrath because defying it has more repercussions than choosing to let a medium or lower SES person die horribly
urusername2
So, there needs to be penalties for the doctors and the hospital!
BeardicPerformance
There are penalties. The problem is those penalties are for HELPING people. We need the government to STOP telling doctors how to care for patients, not put in even more contradictory rules.
urusername2
I don't care what the State and Federal rules are, courts should make the doctors pay the patients.
djrinni
Fuck Children's. They recommended what may as well be genital mutilation to help with my kid's problem years ago then charged me through the nose to tell me we had to go somewhere else to get help. Then they have the gall to beg for donations.
Clockworkdancerobot
Given the right keeps claiming doctors are doing "Genital mutilation on kids to make them trans" might help with a bit of clarification.
djrinni
You're not wrong! In this case it was phimosis but he was still very young and there were other options available. The doctor "helping" went straight to surgical recommendation and immediately started pulling up graphic pictures of the procedure to explain what was involved. When we didn't want to do that she sent us to another hospital and the doctor there started more reasonably on steroidal cream.
zFUBARz
yeah, there's absolutely non surgical options for that except fairly extreme cases. For that particular issue I always wonder if docs who just prefer circumcision for whatever archaic reason like to jump to that conclusion.
djrinni
I absolutely believe that. She seemed pretty annoyed that he's intact and jumped right to surgery.
Clockworkdancerobot
Yeah, I tell people Doctors are a mixed bag. Do NOT feel afraid to get a second opinion. Family member had a tumor, 1st doc wanted to operate in the most insane way that would cause him massive loss of function. Second doc had a far better technique that caused almost no problems.
