Download Scrappy's cheat menu off the Steam Workshop for your first run through. That'll give you leeway to make mistakes and learn.

It took me a full play through to really start to get it. You have to submit to the unknown, accept your inability, than you may be ready.

I have accepted my inability, and uninstalled it! I don't hate the game but it made me feel dumb. Then I spent 100 hours in KSP as therapy.
