This is all very lost to time now because the user deleted their account, but after this tweet people linked multiple studies showing that people DO tend to change their minds when shown new facts, and true to those studies, cafernblue took it in stride and accepted this new information, and said they were overall happy to have been corrected. Most of my beliefs are logical but there are some irrational ones that I struggle to let go of like how I think it’s gross and weird that humans feel the need to attribute specific genders to robots. The robot didn’t get to decide what gender it is so it’s really weird of us to sexualize it. And it’s not new because the Jetsons had a “female” housekeeper robot. I like my robots without them having to be defined by human genders or sexual orientation

What if they're programmed with a gender? Maybe the Jetsons' robot is female because she was designed to be, and that's in her software as well as her hardware.

Yeah exactly. There are several studies that show conclusively that trying to change people's minds by shouting facts at them doesn't work. Why would anyone be stupid enough to keep doing it?
