When this show first ran they insisted on having a laugh track and it sucked so much of the humor out of it. It also diluted the messaging by a lot, and I suspect that was deliberate. Then that final episode happened and holy crap.

I first watched it in the German dub, which luckily never had a laugh track. Unfurtunately it had instead some pretty severe censoring such as guns making toy gun noises or dialogue being completely changed. For example an electric chair becomes a "rocket chair" despite obviously being an electric chair.

If you only remember Dinosaurs from your childhood, do yourselves a favor and rewatch the whole series. Yes, the ending was shocking and memorable, but really the whole series was chockful of social criticism and commentary, much of which may have flown right over your head, depending on how young you were at the time.

They roast Disneyland with "Variations On A Theme Park"- too many dinos were dropping dead on the job from overwork, so the government gives everybody guaranteed two week vacations (Handupme takes his on the spot after he reads the report), and WeSaySo hastily builds a theme park (with a cow mascot and matching hotels). They charge for EVERYTHING- including just opening the minifridge, picking up the phone, lifting the lid on the toilet, and keeping the room lights on.

the one other episode I remember is where the family is preparing for the tradition of yeeting the elderly into a volcano and the dad is particularly eager to be rid of his mother in law until he has a change of heart and they think "hey, maybe we *shouldn't* treat retired people as a burden on society?"

I really do need to rewatch it, if only because I wonder how much it subconsciously shaped my view of things. That episode where Robbie invents clean power or something and becomes a target of big business is one that I remember, and indeed which I remember being outraged by even at that age.

Robbie's idea was to cap the local volcano to collect geothermal power. It would have worked, but a long term environmental impact study was ordered (something on the order of 100 MILLION years) to stop it.

I still genuinely oppose the "all life is precious" message of said episode. With enough suffering, and after voluntary and deliberate choice, one should be able to end their own life in age and sickness.

My main concern is that such treatment will more frequently be offered to the poor, because of treatable conditions that insurance companies just don't want to pay for. In other words, the rich get treatment, the poor get to die.
In civilized nations this is probably less of a concern, but unfortunately I'm not in one of those.
