Relationship opinions

I know Imgur doesn’t look kindly on this but I’m just curious to know what y’all think. I’m one of those people who’s phone is always on. From the time I’m awake (usually no earlier than 7) to the time I’m asleep (usually no later than midnight) my phone is on and I’m checking it on a regular basis for phone calls and text messages.

The younger person I’m currently dating seems to be the exact opposite. Barely attached to their phone. Will only check for messages on average every few hours. On Black Friday I didn’t hear from them for 15 hours and it kinda pissed me off. A simple checking in would have sufficed and been appreciated at some point throughout the day. Am I supposed to gladly accept the excuse that they were shopping and couldn’t find time to text me at least once in a 15 hour period? “Hey, Miss you” is too much?

Maybe I’m weird but I like hearing from people i like/are crushing on/are in love with....on a near daily basis. This person never asks me how I’m doing, or how my day is. I often feel like I care but this person doesn’t at all.

TL;DR
I’m in an unhappy relationship. I feel like caring is currently a one way street. What’s your opinion?

For one, you’re addicted to your phone and it contributes to your frustration. Second, tell them you appreciate check ins.

Don’t get mad about it, you have to recognize that you use your phone too much. But you CAN ask them to consider using it a *bit* more.

Relationships are a two way street, if you expect someone to act the way you want them to, you need to also be willing to do the same back

If they wanted to talk to you they would. Move on.

You want a more serious relationship than this person who absolutely is not ignoring their phone for 15 hours. Admit that, break up and--

move forward in life.

Sounds like what you want from a relationship is different then the person you are with. Or maybe you just haven't talked to them about this

There is no "right" here. Just differences between two humans. Gotta communicate and then decide if you want to keep going.

Maybe your need for constant validation is driving them away? But what do I know I'm terrible at relationships

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

It’s not validation I need. It’s reciprocation.

OK I'll bite. Reciprocation of recognition or affirmation that you and your feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile: Validation

It’s more like I’d appreciate this person put as much effort into the relationship as I do. My life is way more busy...yet I find time...

sounds like you want validation. call them up or drop by there house

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It’s not validation I want. It’s a little love and appreciation...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

thats literately the definition of it: recognition or affirmation that a person or their feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It’s not that simple

1st all, chill the hell out, your being really clingy and that will chase him/her off. 2nd talk to them about feeling this way —>

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That’s best way to figure out where this relationship is going. If they really care about you, they will try to compromise the communication

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They will try to say you need to chill out, but stand your ground and talk it out. Or else it won’t change.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How is that being clingy? Serious couples talk every day?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Yes that’s true, how long have you been dating.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it supposed to be serious, this relationship you are in? Is that something you require? Sounds like you need to talk to your person.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're right. The proper term should be 'controlling' or 'possessive'.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fuck me for wanting to hear from the people I love...I can somehow find the time to check in with a full schedule. Why can’t they?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You believe people should meet your expectations? Are you sure you're meeting theirs?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because they're not you. You are not the standard by which people who love ought to behave.
