I always consider that pride month is as much about straight people as it is the LGBTQ + it's about celebrating love in all its wonderful forms. So, as a straight person, I celebrate it as much as anyone else because it means I live in a society that allows people to love, and that's kind of awesome! I don't feel excluded or slighted. And I'll fight anyone who calls for "straight pride month"

I read somewhere that Pride month should have nothing to do with lgbtqia+ people and everything to do with straight people, make june the month where straight couples are forbidden from marrying, shamed for having relationships and shunned from showing any displays of affection in a public scene in hopes that it would show them some perspective. I feel that if a group wanted to have a strait pride march, they should have it. It doesn't bother me anymore than a gay pride march. Neither has to be an assault on the other. Both marches can happen, and everyone can accept each others rights. Being offended is only the right response if the other groups intention was to make you offended. So, allowing yourself to be offended only makes the bad people happy. Let hateful people drown in their own hate alone. Never give them meaning.

The thing is, pride kinda already is straight pride. There's a reason we just call it pride and not "gay pride" or "queer pride". The rainbow flag is a symbol that includes everyone, this includes straight cis people who are welcome to attend. To make a straight pride event would be specifically exclusive, when the existing pride is explicitly inclusive.

The only thing I hate about pride month is how corporations change their logos and pretend like they actually give a shit. There may be some CEOs or whatever who actually do care and they should feel free to wear such a badge, but my firm belief is that the overwhelming majority do not care and only do this for financial gain and/or to "ride the popularity wave". Call me a cynic, but I don't think I'm too far off with my assessment.

As someone old enough to remember when those same corporations would kick you out of their establishments for being visibly lgbt, or fire their employees for not hiding their sexuality, I think it's a step forward. It's a greedy, purely monetary step, and a *lot* of those companies and groups sadly still donate to anti-lgbt causes behind the scenes, but the fact that they at least acknowledge that we're a potential profit point, rather than trying to drive us away is still a *kind* of progress.

Best advantage of being gay is not having to date your own natural predator. I'm gender fluid, and had a trans friend do my makeup. I came close enough to passing to have to deal with aggressive drunk men hitting on me. It was the last time I went to a bar dressed feminine.
I can't imagine being a straight woman and not feeling constantly threatened.

Straight woman here, I will say, personally for me anyway, we're used to it. We don't feel constantly threatened but our guard is up even when we don't realise it, we just have to be very aware of our surroundings, know where the exit is in places, get a vibe quickly of people and follow the 'rules' we've been taught, but just casually chatting to strangers isn't something that personally makes me feel on edge, I just suss out intent as quickly as possible, and most of the time it's harmless 🤷

There's a theory they feel fear because on some level they think equity means being treated like those who have been oppressed have been treated: they think if women achieve equality that means they'll make men have less rights, if non-white people achieve more positions of power in government they'll enact racist policies against white people: how "land back" means white people will be treated like indigenous people. It's almost an admission of guilt.
