We ate ketchup, mustard, horseradish (and beets) for three years ...
... and we made this:

And this is short gameplay gif - just for visualizing what type of game it is ;)

PS
The first video (with the fridge) was taken some day when we were working in my brother's flat. My fridge is a bit better equipped (but I have small kids).

Ketchup, mustard, and beets... so normal Russian diet

Actually we are from Poland.

Price? ... demo? Graz on your game nonetheless

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

About 15 euro (there will be some discount on release for sure); Demo was available a few months ago (also Beta); Now tests are closed :/

I like that fridge a lot where's it from

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We are from Poland, but don't know if the fridge is a polish product :/

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

NO FUCKING WAY, I AM SO FUCKING BUYING THIS ON PAYDAY.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks :D So don't forget to add it to wishlist ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mac version? Hoping that "custom engine" means you took the time to write something cross-platform.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Unfortunately not. The code is separated into modules (for porting) but no porting is done for now.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Congrats, but seriously where did you get a refrigerator with a laminate door and box?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! We are from Poland and the fridge was bought in Poland too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey that's just like my fridge! But I'm not a dev and just hungry

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure this fridge state is not only specific for devs ;) (haha, students could be too) ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This looks cool. I may purchase

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Thanks!! So don't forget to add it to wishlist ;)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Neat. Does it make use of quantum effects too like interference and entanglement?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately not :/ But it's nice idea ;) It's possible to mix colors but it's not interference.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ketchup, mustard, and beers huh? Your pee must have been a truly horrific colour!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately we didn't check :D

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fight on, fellow dev. Looks rad.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Diggin the style

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Art is my brother's field ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's some, uhh, might chill wood you've got there! Oh, the game looks great!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"it's just called two brothers"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know the game Two brothers. Nice game ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So just curious, why did you bother with a custom engine?

9 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

In short: it's my passion and I like coding tech things (and also games of course) ;)

9 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

How long did the engine development take, and how long did you spend on the game?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

About 3,5 years for the game. The engine was started long before (but not full-time). From about a year engine is almost unchanged.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will be keeping an eye on this, it looks very good.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Great! Thanks :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Definatly leaving a comment here so I can find it when I get home. Looks great

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! So don't forget add Archaica to wishlist ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wishlisted!! I love puzzle-based games, atmosphere, and things that generally feel like some love was put into their creation. Can't wait!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thank You!! Glad You like the game :D

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

By custom engine do you mean you made your own? If so that's fucking crazy, in the best way.

9 years ago | Likes 159 Dislikes 2

I would buy this, looks rly niet to me.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! Don't forget to add it to wishlist then ;P

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Personally I find developing an engine much more interesting than modifying an existing one. It's just not feasible.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea, developing an engine is interesting (and time consuming) ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks a lot! Making the game and an engine is the harder way and a lot of work; Hope it will pay off ;)

9 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 1

Are you the engine dev @op?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. Born for making engines and games ;P

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would be really interested (as a fellow graphics guy) to know about the tools and techniques involved. Do you have a blog with that ?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Also looks freaking amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why make your own engine instead of something like Unity? Is there something no commercial engine offered that you needed?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read somewhere "special games need special engines". We have exactly what we want for our game. Sure, it's a lot of work - but I like it!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Does it have Linux version too? If yes I'll buy it bro. Good job.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately not. Only PC for now (with custom tech it's harder to port :/ ).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Beautiful art and graphics! Added to my Steam wishlist! Congrats on your hard work ????

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks!!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks really nice, if I had the hardware availability, I'd make it available to my students.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Would be nice to see using our game in education ;P

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My fridge has three jars of differently sliced dill pickles, a jar of banana pepper slices, expired eggs, milk and a door of condiments

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So you are in a difficult situation too ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op I want to buy a copy. Is it on the App Store?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately it's only a PC game for now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isit on mobile?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately not :/ Only PC for now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gonna wanna link for potential purchase @op

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Link to the game on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/550590/Archaica_The_Path_of_Light/ (If you mean that).

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

im sorry, its very pretty but if the game mechanics are as straightforward as the trailer makes it seem - why spend 3 years making no >>>

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

>>> money when you could do the exact same mechanics in a few months easy with existing engines and simpler graphics?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

also the gratification of building the whole thing from scratch

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a good point. We are much smarter now ;) It looks simple but it was really hard to design the game and finish it! Indie devs know ;)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

there used to be an old old old game with something much like this. you were a wizard's apprentice and you had to unlock puzzles by turning

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unfortunately I don't know what game You have in mind :/ But for sure there are some laser and mirrors games (even a lot).

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mirrors to bounce light or a spell cast from your wand maybe? i played it on some old mac or ibm with a 5 inch floppy. anyone know it?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the simple, blue, black, purple, white graphics
