Meet Glenn

I pulled up to his house to drop off some pizza. This sweet fuck met me at my car, followed me to the door, and did nothing but beg the whole time. Even after I rid my hands of pizza.

After petting him and noticing his bones through his fur while waiting on the owner to answer the door, I became concerned.

Sweet li'l beggar.

He spent the whole time gently trying to get my attention like this.
So I asked the owner if it was his, and if he wanted this poor cat or if I could take him.

Turns out, it was his mom's cat that the homeowner ended up with, and just didn't have time (or fucks) to take care of him. Two dogs inside, a kid, yadda yadda. No food or water in sight outside, no shelter. He'd obviously been well-loved in the past- he was still asking people for help.

So after I got the OK from the 'owner', I snatched him up, put him in my car, and took him to my house and put him into quarantine immediately with a litter box (which he very much knows how to use), water, and a little bit of food (so he wouldn't eat himself sick).

Starving

Indoor cats do not do well outside, any more than you, or I, or a child would do well outside with no survival training or knowledge. Glenn was no exception to that. He... was not thriving. And his "caretaker" gave zero fucks.

I could almost touch my fingers around his waist. And I have *tiny hands*- like I wear child-sized gloves.

Banana for Scale

He was *so thin*. I made a vet appointment for the next day.

Chill af

Even through that fur (so soft!) you can still see his ribs. And his hips. Dude is chill, though. He just... sat there, totally cool with whatever was about to happen. It wasn't apathy either- he poked around the room for a bit, got a thermometer shoved up his ass, blood drawn, poked, prodded... and as soon as they left the room, "Welp, nap time. It's cool. Ya'll are good people."

He weighed in at 6lb, 3oz.

Vet Visit #1

FLV/FIV Negative! (yay!) Already neutered, dewormed, and got some stuff for that eye. The vet said they *may* be able to save it... if he stops rubbing it. Thus... the Cone of Shame.

They said to come back in 3 days.. or two, because of the weekend.

Bath Time

Revolution's had 48 hours to do its work. Fleas have been annihilated. It's time to clean their house. Flea House is Not Amused.

That houseplant & garden bottle is actually Nature's Miracle. I have other pets, and it was a handy sprayer. It works.

Pardon the messiness. I just gave a cat a bath, so we're all a tad bit disheveled all around.

It's been 2 days, time to go back before the weekend.

He's up to 7 lbs, 4 oz. Dude's been doing nothing but eating and sleeping and poking around, and I couldn't be happier. Though he's been having some trouble grooming with that collar on...

The Verdict

For his comfort and safety, it's time for the eye to go.

It has some sediment... and he can't see anything out of it. Doc says it's time to come out- it won't ever heal, and that pus stuck in the eye is just going to cause recurring infections.

My SO saw it and said that Glenn was going to be his name...

And his teeth... he's missing a lot. Poor guy. :(

I know this makes it hard to eat. :-/

He was loved once.

He trusts people. He just TRUSTS us. After all of the shit that he went through, he still completely and utterly trusts people.

He was loved, once. And dearly. Be careful who you entrust your furbabies to, people. Make sure you know that they'll be taken care of if you're not there. Because they deserve better than someone who doesn't give a f***.

Here's the bad news...

$500-$800. That's a problem...

I work two jobs (a full time and a part time), and I'm still barely making ends meet. I now have to make some hard decisions.

The vet clinic has Care Credit available, basically a credit card for veterinary care only. Interest rate is at 27%, and that's... a little stiff.

I took on Glenn, and he is now my responsibility. But, I also have a family to support, and I'm not entirely sure that I will be able to meet this payment obligation without detriment to my other responsibilities.

So I have to face the facts. This is a responsibility I can't handle.

Imgur, please help. Glenn is a sweet cat and deserves more than I can provide him. I want to keep him, truly I do, but there's no way that I can give this sweet, incredible guy everything he needs to thrive after the tough life he's had.

I don't know what to do other than ask if anyone here has room in their homes, hearts, and budget to provide the life this cat deserves, and his previous parent probably hoped for? I'll go online, because I know there's a good community here who I know I could trust to give Glenn the best home he possibly could have.
