@KenKorte This is fraud, report it to whichever payment processor you used to make the purchase. Request that they reverse the transaction by reason of misrepresentation/fraud by the company. It doesn't always work, but if you can convince a credit card company or bank to give a fuck about it, the company pulling that shit is going to have to start giving a shit about at least your purchase and the refund thereof.

A scam, for sure. But I do think it's salvageable. With the right stitches here and there and some stuffing and roughening, you may end up with something close to what you ordered. Hopefully it came one or two sizes too large for that to be made.

This has nothing to do with truth in advertising. It's a scam site, plain and simple. They pop up, sell, shut down, and pop up again under a new name too fast for much to be done. Just about every (if not every) image on the site is Ai-generated. Even the name "coyboyhood.com" should be a red flag as a cheap nonsense domain name.
Site like this are as old as the internet. Good rule of thumb: I you see a $300 sweater for $37 from a foreigh-hosted site that is less than a year old, its a scam.

Which government? Do What? These aren't legitimate companies. There's no business license to trace, no audit trail, no real address. These kinds of sites are up and down before regulators can receive enough complaints to initiate an investigation, much less do anything about it, especially when they are offshore.
The government can't protect you from everything. Sometimes, it falls to your own due diligence to protect yourself.

I had a similar issue, bought a fast cat wheel (basically a hamster wheel for cats) for a suspiciously good price. Late night justification that it was plastic not wood which is why it's cheaper but in the end it was no delivery and the website was down a few days later after no replies to emails when past the estimated delivery date.
At least I used a digital disposable card which was something

To me it looks like they advertised the hand knitted prototype and then converted it for extra shitty machine knitting to make the product. Bobbles and irregular castoffs-easy for hand knitters, tough for machines. Or they just charted it in one standard key and set the machine to another. That's a funny idea.

Exactly. As soon as I saw the price, I knew it couldn't be real. You can't just have a knitting machine fire something like that off, it's going to take manual labour to make the design itself. Usually the only manual parts are sewing pieces together, but those rough raggedy holes can't be made on a machine. A human wlll have to do it, which is way more manual work than a normal sweater.

Go check out the site...all of the images are AI-generated. Some more blatant than others, but if you know WHAT a knit sweater like this SHOULD look like, it's obvious. Jut not to the untrained eye. Just typing in the website name in google gives scam alerts. Search on Bing and the top 10 results after the actual website are all scam alerts.

It's not blatantly obvious, but look at the weird patterns on the sleeves and shoulders that are different on both sides. This would be really difficult to knit, nevermind mass-produce. Asymmetric, strangely organic looking patterns are typical for generative AI (see also the jeans pockets and belt). Also typical: too many skin lines / folds in places where you wouldn't expect them, like the neck

The OP post is possible, yeah. Knit the initial ombre sweater. Cut open the holes for the eyes - you'd have to sew around the holes in matching thread so they don't unravel past your sewn line. Inside the line you can unravel them and if it's wool you can burn the ends to make it look cool. The messed-up cabling on shoulders and forearms could be mocked up using an i-cord (knitted cord) and then you can just sew it on top of the knitted surface in whatever crazy patterns you want (the ones /1

The mouth you could also add on later, with picking up some stitches and knitting across the mouth line in a rib pattern for one or two rows. Picking up too few stitches for the width would also cause that puckering for the mouth. And then just knit a big red rectangle and sew it under the eyeholes. Definitely could be done (or something very close), definitely not for the price shown.
