Hey, if this gets the kid to love reading, I'm all for it!
LZorro
Remember, if grandpas didn't tell sweeping epic adventures to their grandkids, we wouldn't have Lord of the Rings.
beemarr
Nah, granddad's got the right idea, that's better than stories to sleep. Kid will remember this fondly for the rest of his life.
LiarLiarPantsUntier
The actual woke agenda huh?

Zongo, you say?

Peter Falk was such a baller. I miss that man.

Plot twist: This is the sequel to The Princess Bride. The grandpa here was the kid from the movie, now telling stories to his own grandchild
DwayneTheCrackJohnson
Another twist: the rodents are even more of unusual size, and the killer has 7 fingers (two extra being middle fingers, three in total)

And everyone is wearing masks, because it's the future.

My younger brother's favorite bedtime story as a young child was Mr. BigDude, a creation of mine, who was an unbelievably huge man who engaged in wildly improbable antics in search of vast quantities of food. In my experience, as long as you get a kid actually into bed and tucked in, they'll go to sleep eventually, even if they laugh they butt off for five minutes over the adventures of a chonky guy trying to break into a movie theater to steal all their popcorn butter.

Oh, brother, let me tell you the stories that my dad told me about Machine Gun Bear.

So too the grandpa from Princess Bride
cousteau
Yeah, #1 is literally the grandpa from The Princess Bride and I refuse to think otherwise.

Columbo knows how to tell a story!

Grandpa dresses better to read his grandson a story than I do for a job interview.

The comments have a lot of Princess Bride, good. Even a Girl Genius mention--awesome! But there isn't a DROP of Terry Pratchett yet, and this is right up his alley. "The children refused to disbelieve in the monsters because, frankly, they knew damn well the things were there. But she’d found that they could, very firmly, also believe in the poker."
CatskinnerKeen
I raised mine that way.
"Monsters are DELICIOUS!!!"
"Monster under the bed?!? GREAT!!! Let's catch 'em and ROAST 'EM!!!"
Sometimes you sleep on their floor to ambush the monsters, but honesty, I only needed to do that once.
LifeIsADanceOfMinds
This sounds like a Heterodyne Story...

Those kids will be excited for weeks.
Spudd86
I had the exact same thought!
