We fucking trusted those illiterate monkes to read, to do their research, to think critically, and somehow it bit us in the ass? Shock! Mild, nearly perceptible, shock!
And to think. Democratic Leadership more expected these moronic people to use common sense than trying to appease the left. Congrats on finally figuring out the Overton Window tactic eventually stops working when you’ve moved far enough to the right.
I'm gonna be real with you, I didn't know how they worked either before the election. Still not super clear on it. But also, I voted for Harris anyway.
This is the way republican priorities work. They voted for who would hurt people more. They did not care until afterwards whether it would also hurt them. They want other people suffering more than they care about their own survival.
They're not stupid, just too evil to function worth a damned.
No lube. Cause tariffs make it too expensive so bite the pillow. Wait, tariffs on that too. Bite your arm but no too hard because you lost your health care
I remember when he placed tariffs on metals coming in from Mexico. I was working at a Mexican American company that relied heavily on imported raw materials from Mexico and as soon as he said tariffs would be placed, even before they actually implemented anything, the very next day, we were talking about how the prices were going up that same day because of the announced tariffs. People just don't fucking learn anything ever.
I mean, the same data could also be explained by all the democrats who never read about them because they voted for Harris regardless and are now forced to read about them because trump passed. Let's be objective about the data presented to us. We can make assumptions and speculations but too many posts talk about it as facts
I think they take everything he says with a grain of salt, which makes it possible for them to vote for him without agreeing with his policies... which is some kind of evil genius. Me personally, I'd say maybe the tariffs are meant to increase long-term movement of manufacturing back to the US. But I don't think Trump really cares about the long-term economy. He wants people to love him or hate his enemies right now.
Yeah, for my own sanity I'll remain hopeful. Who knows, just few years in, when the magats start to understand how fucked they are, they might depose Trump.
And all the government programs that will be, not cut, but DEFUNDED. It'll take a year or two, to "trickle down," but it's coming. And they'll all be SHOCKED, just absolutely shocked, when it affects them or someone they love.
I will never understand why people thought tariffs wouldn't just make products more expensive... Of course that's what they'll do. That's how they work. They make foreign products more expensive so you'll buy domestically manufactured ones. Which requires that you have domestic manufacturing to provide those products. Which we don't, for the most part.
To be fair. Even big R economist were calling Trump's tariff as a batshit dumb idea. So even the people who believe in trickle down are saying all tariffs all the time is trash, which should say something
As Trump found out the first time around, doing things properly through the senate is basically useless as it takes a long time and might not even work. He can do tariffs all by himself.
I seriously doubt any and all tweets that depict Trump voters are figuring things out now and being regretful. In my experience willful ignorance only digs in deeper when confronted with his lies and cruelty.
And some of those that learn about it, are taught a false version. They don't want to acknowledge that laissez-faire capitalism was screwing over the economy, which lead directly to the great depression
this feels more like copium going on from us leftists. We're clinging to every minor little "win" we can get so we dont have to think so much abt the horrible 4 years coming up
Don't believe it. Cultists will stick with the cult. We've done children in cages, we've paid for a wall, we've paid tariffs. They loved it. Don't think they are changing their mind. You are being propaganda'ed.
What is this supposed to even mean? So you're saying that giving a shit about people and the actual state of the union and economy is a losers game? That a grifter conned a bunch of idiots and now we all have to suffer for it is like, OK? Because why? I'm lost on your thinking here.
maybe they should have googles about tariffs and everything else drump said he'd do BEFORE the election and not after, but I guess owning the libs was more important.
You could have some sort of semantic argument that prices going up in a specific industry, without a knock on effect on the price index isn't inflation maybe? But the thing with touching open mains in a pool is that you can argue whether cause of death was electrocution or drowning, you're the same amount of dead as a result.
Why would they look now if not before the election? I get not looking before the election if they just don’t care, and in that case, why would they look now?
People who vote for something they don’t understand because they didn’t think it would win are far more common than I ever thought possible, between trump and brexit. Vote for the luls and we all face the consequences
But is there any evidence this is happening? The people driving the google trends looking up what a tariff is could be people who voted for Harris, didn't care about a word Trump said and now are trying to figure out what's going on.
But back then they weren't blanket tariffs like this time. Oh, and back then it cost American tax payers little over $28 billion in recovery aid to farmers to not completely collapse the farming industry.
well the thing is that then covid happened, and everyone blamed the resulting economic hardship of ALL causes, on liberals enforcing lockdowns and vaccines. no one remembers that the economy was starting to fail regardless of covid.
I was asking about the logic some oil field workers had. "Last Trump presidency, I was flush with cash, and everything was cheaper, then COVID, I lost my job a month into Biden's presidency. All Bidens Fault! Now I'm working in the field, and we're fully booked for the next 9 months the day after Trump was elected." *ME*, the election of a leader does not instantly change the demand for oil products. That stuff is decided months, if not years, in advance based on futures & sale contracts.
People voted for him because of their good feelings about the precovid economy. The same economy that allowed them to get gouged on everything during covid. That allowed a huge number of companies to make record profits on the backs of minimum-wage workers...Now they think prices will go down, pay will go up, and everything will be sunshine, just like before COVID. They even think the market is excellent due to Trump; it barely went up 1%, but it hit record highs monthly with Biden.
... They had literally been talking about it since it was announced, all the way to election day. Harris talked about it. Campaign ads talked about it. Every news agency talked about it. Fuck, FOX NEWS talked about it. If you never saw that, that's a sign maybe you should have better information sources.
As for talk to the neighbors, you act like the giant toddlers listen instead of stamping their feet and going "NNNNOOOOO, IMMIGRANTS!"
They won't listen, because Trump is God to them, and furthermore, they shouldn't have to have this explained to them. It's like telling them they shouldn't step on land mines or put their heads into cow rectums. It's bloody obvious.
It was. It was all over the MSM. You can do a search of "Trump's tariffs" on Google (and restrict it to pre-election day to weed out current discussions) and see countless articles about it.
Where you DIDN'T see those sorts of articles? All the right-wing websites and shows and podcasts and tweets where the MAGAs get all their news.
Exactly this was not the Dems fault. This was the fault of a largely ignorant (sometimes willfully) electorate. Harris mentioned the tariffs would out the cost on consumers, economists said so, they could spend less than 5 minutes looking up how tariffs work on Wikipedia. And even that ignores that again nobody should be voting for the openly authoritarian candidate for any reason. Cheap eggs and gas are not worth our democracy.
