Yup. My fiance has used FitBit for years to help track her heart rate and other details for her POTS (post-orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). But as soon as Google announced that they were ending the FitBit app (after having bought FitBit) and forcing it into the Google Health app that mandates sharing all data into Gemini, she immediately downloaded her records, deleted it all from the FitBit system, and ended her related subs. Fuck that shit.

Yup. Way to go. It was convenient until they start asking "which chemo you are taking to teach our ai" like fr. It was very nice until they started pulling data, and wenpaid for the watches and the monthly thing, and its like, gimmee your data? Hell no. Also i aint paying no monthly fee either. Im back to old school step counters and self winding watches.

If you really want to, we won't stop you, but @mindstorm8191 is right. They will find ways to use it against you. Heck, I can even think of examples, and I'm sure it's just the tip of the tip of the iceberg compared to what they can come up with.
They could use knowledge of medical conditions to either further target advertisements ("hey, you're at high risk of (X), so buy this!") or to factor in when you're trying to find products. And that's JUST the 'shopping' side of Amazon; they are

involved with SO many online aspects beyond just e-commerce. I couldn't begin to guess what AWS is capable of doing with your medical records.
Worse even than that, if they HAVE your medical info, they can SELL that info. Without telling you. To whoever would want to buy it. Oh, and let's not forget that certain medical information about women could be very interesting indeed to certain interest groups.
You can do what you want, but *I* don't plan on giving Amazon (or others) my health data.

You giving your own data is not a HIPAA anything. HIPAA is about the medical system not disclosing and keeping secure any data medical and IT professionals would deal with in the course of their duties. Once you give your own data away, that's on you. It's outside the purview of HIPAA.

No to the former. You giving anyone or anything your own health data is not a HIPAA violation. Amazon AI doing whatever the hell it wants to with it after that also is not.
