Interesting Facts My Dad a 3rd Generation Vet (I am 4th) could not survive on social security and had to work until he DIED, my Grandfather (the 2nd Generation) work until he DIED on the job and was found by his wife (who also was in the military and I found her after she did not show up for work dead) I am 68 and looking for work as I will be homeless in 6 months if I can not find anything, and we ALL had to fight for food stamps, I get $16 a month

Being officially part-time while working full-time hours is a common scam. Hiring "independent contractors" is another.

Except for the most part you can’t actually get food stamps working full time. Unless it’s changed since I tried to apply, you get paid just slightly too much

How else would they keep people at that level? I have a friend that had to deny her raise because it was just enough to lose her food stamps but not any meaningful raise.

Sounds like they are in a bad situation, hope they somehow manage to save some funds and go to a place that pays better and thereby no food stamps needed.

Oh also she was in "low income" housing which also had a cap on how much she could make to live there which she was right on the line for but after some interviews, let her move in.
She doesn't live there anymore because they were brand new units and had plumbing issues which flooded her apartment from an upstairs apartment issue which they would not even offer her a different unit or any discount on rent, but let her break her lease.

Ah, the Welfare Cliff. Teetered on the edge of it myself before they moved the proverbial goalposts and I fell off, anyway. The system isn't broken; it's working as rich assholes in power intended, and that's the problem.
