Vaccinated and boosted so won’t be dropping dead and cause inconvenience to my colleagues. Just mild cold and an overwhelming anxiety which subsided after breakfast. Now staying the small studio apartment close to my hospital as I don’t want to spread or infect my family in the Italian side. I have two good bottles of scotch, a crate of wine and free food delivered by the local council (thanks to federal govt. covid initiative). Gonna get drunk and play games till I am fit for service again.

Two bottles of scotch and crate of wine? What will you drink after first 5 days?

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I tested positive and am boostered same as my wife. I am so ready for this cough to go away.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel like as a Dr. You would know getting drunk while sick is bad for you. Drink plenty of fluids not scotch.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No way am finishing the scotch; I am gonna power through 14 days of quarantine and after that party quarantine alone starts…

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Grats!... wait a second...

4 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 1

I mean vaxxed or not, two good bottles of scotch can cure anything.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doc, you freaking EARNED that break! I hope the omicron doesn't wreck your plans. Enjoy the loitering around as much as you can!

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

40 days, so literally a quarantine ...

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

The OG way…

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Should it be omicron and not omnicron?

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Sure but they’re ESL so I aint mad

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Omicron isn’t english

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At this point getting a ps5 is rarer than getting covid

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Soo, get if I get covid, get smashed and play smash.. got it doc ;)

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

CDC says covid+ healthcare workers should go to work if their symptoms are mild.. Fuck you CDC

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

After all you've been through, you deserve to get paid to eat, drink, and play video games for 40 days. Enjoy it! and play Spider-Man on PS5

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

“Gonn get drunk and play video games till I get fit again”. I knew exercising wasn’t the way to get fit.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Doc orders….

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Take good care of yourself and knock yourself out with the PS5. What games are you going to play?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A plan. The man has a plan.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Enjoy the well earned paid time off!! Unfortunate the circumstances needed for that to happen but nonetheless! I’ve been vaccinated and also

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have recently gone through having omnicron, it still wasn’t enjoyable experience whatsoever.. good luck and cheers ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 245 Dislikes 4

Although I should admit I grossly underestimated the cost of ps5 games :(

4 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Yeah, but all that money you're saving on food though ?

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Naa that am saving to buy riding gear.. but the fancy ones with airbags haha

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

you mean motorcycle riding gear, that has airbags in it ?

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yup yup…the jacket goes puff when u underestimate your riding skills and yeet over the alps..

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Have a well deserved rest !

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You deserve it and more. Enjoy your time off and come back refreshed

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hell yes, you deserv....wait... uh,... you deserve the time off, but hope your symptoms stay mild!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here, except I don't work in the medical field. Managed two years dodging maskless idiots and not vaccinated, now I'm kinda angry.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

40 days!?!?!? Where the hell do you work at? I'm am xray tech at a hospital in Detroit and would only get 80 hours if needed for covid!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Switzerland well to be exact Lugano..

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Europe :)

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Not America.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You freaking earned your leave - sorry you had to get infected to get it, though.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aren't you afraid to forget how to do ER doc after 40 days ? I am in IT and I fear that.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Na.. those things are now natural now. If the experience doesn’t teach u the military service will definitely…

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

40 days is not enough to forget, I couldn't even forget my pin-codes and passwords after 30 day leave.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Got my PS5 a few weeks ago. I'd recommend Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut and Spiderman - Miles Morales for the proper next gen experience.

4 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 2

Ratchet and clank: a rift apart is good, just not long.

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Demon's souls!

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If you're into WW2 fps - Hell Let Loose. Got it free with PS+ and haven't played anything else since. Slight learning curve, but worth it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just finished Miles Morales, still working through Ghost, both excellent games!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really enjoying GoT, and the platinum trophy seems quite achievable. 50 hours in so far and feel like I'm getting fairly close to the end.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read that as Ghost Of Tsunami first and was slightly disturbed that a game like that was greenlit...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The real ghost was a storm with massive waves.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

@ArghhhMyGroin But how did you get one without paying the scalper markup?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sometimes PlayStation direct does invite only restocks. You request an invite. They set a time it will open up. Log into the site before it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually starts and you are out in a queue. How I got mine. It’s not currently open for registry or I would link it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By being quick when local stores get some stock in. A supermarket near us had a recent delivery, and I caught them early last month.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is my first Playstation console. I'm still catching up with all the PS4 titles I missed like The Last of Us and God of War.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excellent choices

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Playing Spider-Man remastered first. It’s crazy how much faster the system load fast travel. I had to watch him ride the subway on PS4.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what's impressed me most. You turn the console on and you're playing your game in 20-30 seconds. I have to admit it's the 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most underwhelmed I've been moving up a gen in terms of graphics. There hasn't been a great increase but we're still early in to it's cycle.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I will say I agree for the most part. But I had BF2042 on PS4 and it looks like a ps2 game compared to how it looks on PS5. But it think we

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have hit a point that we won’t see huge leaps in graphics between the end of a generation and start of the new.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’d also add Returnal to that. Arguably the only true next gen experience out there at the moment. Superb

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's definitely next on my list after these two

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Returnal on offer in the spring sale. Get it bought! New (free) content just came out too

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Legend! Thanks man, I'll have a look after work and get it purchased

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll second this, great roguelite.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

just super frustrating as I‘ve played it for 10hrs now and still didn‘t manage to kill the first boss

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Stick with it! Once it clicks it’s. Great feeling!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why 40 days off?

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The 31 free days you get every year + 7 mandatory due to getting COVID I guess.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sterile environment of Er law. You cannot work and have to take precautions as we learnt the first wave, a week off is absolutely useless.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So do you have to isolate for 40 days? Or just not go back into work? Which country?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isolation for 40 days. Switzerland… technically 15 days (CH) but under our hospital admin is 40 days mandatory.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Surely that can't last. They'll run out of workers before your 40 days is done.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

We have reserve staff to last half an year. Lessons we learnt during first wave I guess. Also worst case EU and esp. Italy will send theirs.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My hospital just mandated we have to go back to work after 5 days, even if we’re still symptomatic. Glad to see some still do it right!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where the fuck are you?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ha, I was just looking at a job in Zurich. I'm UK teacher, just tested positive and have to be back at work within 7 days ??‍♀️

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not frontline category probably..also the contone is kinda €€€ orientated.. well chf but yeah.. haha

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbf teachers typically don't come into contact with a lot of sick people for whom an additional infection could have dire consequences.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

btw: It's "omicron". It isn't every/all(omni)time(cron)

4 years ago | Likes 140 Dislikes 6

Buy I really want this one to be the plot of the next transformers movie.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He kinda has a point with "omni" though ....

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

Yay for fellow Latin speaker haha

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Haha if you look at the infection spike it is indeed omni…

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 10

Yeah omnicron is a decepticon

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My dad calls it Obamacron, cause he's that special kind of stupid.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

pretty sus not gonna lie

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Maybe people SHOULD call it that way. Maybe the virus will magically disappear on its own.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At this point it probably will be with us for all time...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seeing as OP is an ER Doc, knows Greek/Latin from medical school, Deals with disease & death daily, haters in here are missing the omni joke

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Was it a joke or just a convenient mistake?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Doctor. Medical School. Literally had to study Latin / Greek. #NYOOOOOOOOOM

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Y'all be like, "Nothing goes over my head. I'm too fast; I would catch it."

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Makes me wonder if OP really is an ER doctor. Don’t those kinds of people manage to spell better and at least know how to spell Omicron?

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 11

Omni = all = dark joke about omicron's infection rate

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Could just be autocorrect on phone that gived options and he missed a letter when reading it

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

Whenever I see "omni" I think of omnitool. Got Mass Effect on the brain.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It was bothering me than an ER doc was getting it wrong. Especially because it's a greek letter. I figured they were satirizing the name.

4 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 2

Haha if you look at the infection spike it is indeed omni…

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 7

My boyfriend is Swiss:) beautiful country!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When he is swiss, give him a break, lot of german speaking media had it wrong with Omnikron, instead of Omikron.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Am german, can't confirm. Nobody here ever said "omnikron"

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Spiegel 8.01.2022 Omikron nicht Omnikron" Search it. There is an articel about it's mispelling.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When Omicron was named there were even some major publications with the Error. Most Online have corrected it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? I wasn't aware of this, thank you for sharing ☆•☆•☆

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No wonder whatever doctors scribble is never legible. Way to mask not knowing how to actually spell shit ;D

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I figured you couldn’t be American when you said 40 days paid leave

4 years ago | Likes 1683 Dislikes 3

Yeah here you get 5 days and back to work you go for a healthcare worker.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly my thought. Plus the crate of wine and food delivered by the council?! That’s fantastic!

4 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 1

Americans get 0 days paid leave. Unless you opt to use vacation time.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably Swiss, as there is an Italian part there

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

wait your local government isn't forcing you to go back to work immediately but be like rearly really cautious? and you have a PS5...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s like 4 years sick time measured in US benefits.

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Same.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

5 days max, a year, if we say its ok, also you're now no longer considered for promotion and this will effect your raise and evaluation.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

*cries in American*

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, we definitely don't get that here...

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Hospital and university just informed us last week that if we test positive but are unsymptomatic, we report to work. Yay.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

That’s how I got everyone at work sick

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Weird, I assumed the opposite! (I assumed mentioning the paid leave implied a country without paid sick leave)

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Probably combined sick leave / paid leave I would think.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same. Most Americans couldn't get 40 hours of paid leave.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol 5 days then you asked to go to the doctor every day to get tested for a negative. Some places charging 225 a test.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The government funded covid food was the tip off for me. I thought the 40 days thing was maybe a hospital thing

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have that but it took 15 years to earn. One of the only reasons I don't look for another job.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

ER nurse here, got 1 day off. Back to work on day 5 post testing positive. Cool.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

40 days paid leave and the government delivering food did it for me.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, lots of better paying jobs have paid sick leave in the US.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My sister-in-law is a NICU nurse and her department gives 14 days paid leave for a positive COVID test. 40 days doesn't make any sense to me

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They’re a doctor. Nurses don’t get this. And if we can’t prove we got it at the hospital, they won’t pay- we use PDO.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Are you a nurse in Italy?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol, US unfortunately

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OK. A friend of mine is a nurse in Italy and has great time off benefits. BTW, Nurses are awesome (most of them).

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, he'd have to return to work after 5 days if in the US.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I think it's down to 0 days for nurses, not sure about doctors though.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't be surprised especially in areas with a nurse shortage. I work in the pharmacy, but we have the same return policy as nursing. ¹

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Which is basically, "bend over." I just went to work and got sent home. I told them I'm not feeling well before, but the health nurse ²

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cleared me anyway. My managers thought I was okay because "covid is like the flu." I hope they all get it so they can understand.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an ER doc in America all I could think is where could I go for that. Is definitely unpaid leave and probably lucky if it’d be 7 days.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Best I can do is 14. Or is it 5 now?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This year, I am maxing out my mandatory paid leave with mandatory holiday off days and will take 57 days off. I need it :].

4 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

I’m crying tears of intense sadness and envy- another American healthcare worker

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Healthcare workers in the US is... brutal :/.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mandatory paid leave? All us mericsns get is manatory overtime and meetings.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

THIS. I'm American with two job offers and I'm so torn between one that gets me out of my current shitty place with a methhead sledging my

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Ceiling and what would be my first ever union job. I've heard what difference a union can make but it's also night-owl shift

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Sorry for oversharing, anyway even the gig with the union shop doesn't have as good of benefits as people just narutally have in Europe

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Union jobs are a step in the right direction.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The union job might be better, but not all unions are equal by far. You're probably still better off at the union shop though.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Graveyard shift has it's perks. Most admins gone, better team cohesion.less traffic. Better if you're single.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm not single, and my girlfriend (going on 2 years) works first shift. I love second shift, but graveyard isn't my thing generally although

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It you want days it’s just a matter of putting in time at the union shop. And you might like nights. I’m a morning person when I work nights

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've loved "night shift" as in late second shift 3-1:30, but overnights wrecked my physical and mental health while I did them, but I was

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As an American, I'm shocked in getting paid for a 10 day quarantine.

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

As an American (nurse), I’m getting none.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My sister is a CNA, I cannot believe the way things are being handled for medical staff. I'm so sorry

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Company doesn't help with pay anymore. Have to jump through hoops for fmla. Which just encourages people to come in sick.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Exactly. Because conservatives would consider this “Socialism”

4 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 3

Socialism is only bad if it benefits the population! It's not bad when it only benefits the policy makers and the rich!!!

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Because it is, and there is nothing bad about it.

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

no it's not socialism, it's socialdemocratism.

I have! Just not my cup of tea. Also I'm not american. :)
