More marketing for the endless marketing machine that is Red Bull. The cans cost 1c to produce, but most of the profit is spent on marketing of this sh1tty product, so they can sell more, and use the profits to market it some more... Coca-Cola did this for over a century before them.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's still, just... such a *profoundly* bad idea, though...

I jumped over a log with my mountain bike a few days ago. It was a pretty big log. Well, more like a medium sized log.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

A large log the size of a medium log

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I bet you got like three feet of air!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As someone who used to do comp mountain biking, that shit isn't as easy as it sounds. Major kudos to you! Remember to keep both wheels vertical, or your skin won't like you for a few weeks.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Cool you used to compete? I've done some "fun" mountain bike races and done well because I'm usually the only woman in my age group competing lol. Won by being the only entry!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was a kid, & both a lot stupider & a lot more reckless back then lol. But mountain biking is a lot of fun, even without the race aspect.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's my mental health fix. You can't come back angry and stressed after riding a mountain bike on a beautiful trail. I'm headed to the U.S. from Canada to do some riding next week!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

East Coast, stick to the Appalachian trails of the upper North East. West Coast, go visit the glacial trails. Midwest, watch out for tornadoes, & maybe stay away from the Rockies; those trails are rudely abusive to your quads. 😅

In my day we didn't have to do insane stunts like this for a rush, we just did coke like normal people

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

According to RedBull, all of it. Seriously, they out RedBull-ed themselves on this one.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

all of it

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well it is a soda pop marketing machine fueled by desperate youth. Money is what they need.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Less than that. If you need this level of adrenaline, just be an adult & do cocaine.

He's wearing a parachute. So there's some safety measures at least

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you say courageous, I say stupid

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So I showed this to my son and he told me number one the guy that’s doing this is scared of heights number two the stuff that it’s made out of is the same material that Formula One race cars are made out of, they tried wood, but it was too heavy.#GetWithTheTimesOldMan.

3 years ago | Likes 168 Dislikes 2

So, fiberglass?

3 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 5

Carbon fibre.

3 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

I’m pretty sure someone who isn’t normally scared of heights would still do the butt-pucker from this altitude. It takes like 100 jumps before you’re allowed to jump non-tandom. So even though he has a parachute. He’s still not “safe”.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 6

UK is 8 stages to pass then 10 consolidation jumps before you can jump solo.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah but those are metric numbers

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I just had to take a class. Technically never had to jump tandem if I passed. But did the first jump tandem anyways

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In Canada you just need to take a test, that's it

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nah. That would mean what I've been doing for the past 20 years is extremely illegal and I would have been told this by now, so nah.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My first jump was "non-tandem"....

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Airborne?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you were trying to tell us that you don't have the first clue about skydiving you've done an excellent job.

3 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

What's the first clue then Mr.expert?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Instead of just asking a stupid question that reveals their ignorance they posted wildly inaccurate information.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"AFF jump is part of a week’s course of 8 levels and a minimum of 10 consolidation jumps which will qualify you as a skydiver." https://britishskydiving.org/become-a-skydiver/

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Real talk: what is this butt pucker thing people keep mentioning? I've only ever heard of it on imgur. When I get scared or anxious, I get a sinking or dropping feeling in my stomach, but no butt symptoms. Is this really a thing? Is it an affectation? Is it culture-bound? Do some people do it and others don't? Why is imgur the one and only place that talks about it?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's an adaptation from the 'so scared that I shit my pants' cliche. You'd pucker your butt to hold back the flow. As far as usage, I've heard it out on the wilds often enough.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What happens to the bike when it goes over? Does it have a tiny parachute? Or does it just slam into someone’s house? Or land in a field to be gobbled up by a combine harvester?

3 years ago | Likes 401 Dislikes 4

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

not so funny anectode. Some childhood friend of mine died while skydiving.. well on impact.. on someone's roof

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Someone gets a free bike.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe they're just doing this over a section of farmland where they can go recover the bike if they have to, without anyone getting bonked.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Except for the obvious roads and building you can see.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

its a small risk, the lawyers have the calculated cost already tallied.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not clear if those are directly in the potential path of the bike, particularly with the wind.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I'm guessing if the guy falls out, he or his associate picks it up and moves it out of the way of the harvester

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

the bike and the rider are one.

How is homeowners dead toddler cover by insurance from “bike rain”

3 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 1

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Weather bicycle, iswydt

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You have no idea what shitshow of a company Red Bull is. I bet they'd find a moraly fckd up way^^

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I can't see one, but I imagine there is a tether connecting the bike to the rider somehow.

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

That’s what I thought too

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably not. There'd be a risk of him and the bike tumbling in the air and the bike tangling the chute.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Or limbs tangling in the bike on landing...-snap-

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That seems wildly hazardous while attempting to parachute.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Red I’ll gives you wiiiiings

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sadly, bikes can't drink.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People with small parachutes caaaaaaan!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He has to hold on to it the entire time. With his feet.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Biker has parachute. Maybe he just holds onto bike?

3 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 3

I'm guessing there's a strap attached to the harness

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That would be a bad idea.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good luck holding onto a bike while decelerating from 125mph to walking pace in 2 seconds. Besides, you don’t want any stcky out things that might tangle your lines on deployment. So it would have to have it’s own chute if at all.

3 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

When they did the Mt Dew commercials they dumped the bike at about 6k feet and tracked the hell away before pull time. I think one still hit someone’s canopy

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Surely the deceleration isn't that fast?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It depends on the rig. BASE jumpers need it open instantly. An AFF instructor making 10 jumps a day couldn't absorb that much punishment.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's fast enough to rip your arms out of the socket if you hold on to it

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

How stupid is this comment?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

I sincerely doubt it's fast enough that just wrapping your arm around the frame and hugging it to your body wouldn't be enough.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Surely

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can be faster but it hurts too much, especially in the gentleman’s area!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

99% chance that bike is tethered to the guy, and he's clearly wearing a parachute. As much as they hide it, shit like this is insanely carefully planned because Red Bull do not want to be sued back to the dark ages if it goes wrong.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, Red Bull can't be worried about things like that, it is all about the cool, and only their cool.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pleased to see someone point out the bike could be a hazard

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That last one is quite specific

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must be fun at parties ^_^

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 7

No, no, it's a fair question.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You must be an inconsiderate asshole.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm not trying to diminish his stunt........ but he clearly is wearing a parachute.

3 years ago | Likes 1605 Dislikes 67

insurance won't let him do the stunt otherwise. Mythbusters were constantly at odds with their insurance companies cuz of stuff like this

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’d be mad at him if he weren’t.

3 years ago | Likes 320 Dislikes 1

I would f-ing hope so! With the chute it's impressive. Without one it's just stupid.

3 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Good!!

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I mean I had SO MUCH ANXIETY until I saw the parachute, and then I had a little less. So I thank him for wearing the parachute.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Like a pussy.

3 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 12

Yeah I mean they're insane but not crazy.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That still takes balls of steel

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good! This ain't worth his life if he fucks up somehow.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It says he's brave, not foolhardy.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was waiting for him to jump out and skydive with his bike.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I WOULD HOPE SO. Good lord I’m so glad you see it and can assuage my anxiety!!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well yeah, no shit.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's courageous, not stupid

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He'd be a fool not to

3 years ago | Likes 903 Dislikes 5

Yeah, a real goofball one could say

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He'd be Travis pastrana not to

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That was actually what I was looking for. I actually sighed in relief when I saw it.

3 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 0

SAME

3 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

A foolish fool.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On the other hand he's getting some amazing hangtime

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you think about it, though, almost any scenario where he needs it will involve him tumbling quite a bit as he falls, and that’s still a pretty scary situation for a skydiver.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So thankful for that outline, calmed my nerves

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even if he wanted to skip it he'd never be allowed to. The liability would be way too high.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would him having to skydive from a failed trick be any less cool?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your right to up there and do it with the parachute on to show em it isn't much

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better than the safety flip flops we usually see on here

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You didn't diminish his stunt, just yourself, son.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To me that is impressive as well. A badass biker and a skydiver. Leave some for the rest of us!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And there's a safety handrail all around the edge, pfft.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I bet going over the side is all part of the plan at some point...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Im not trying to diminish his stunt, but im going to point something out that diminishes his stunt." ??????

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Red Bull Marketing has learned from previous mistakes it seems

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Part of his routine was jumping off at the end, so.. yeah.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They wanted to make it more challenging so they made him do bike tricks wearing a parachute.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The difference between a daredevil and a Darwin Award is preparation

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, just like those fake mountain climbers who use ropes.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And I’m going to be that guy. Multi billion dollar company. Only way to do stunts like this for insurance purposes 🤷‍♂️

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Good!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right, the video calls him "Very Courageous", not "Suicidally Stupid". Frankly, I approve of this wacky stunt.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Parachute or not... Still a BIG NOPE for me.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My heart attack came back...

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll be honest, I was hoping the clip would end with him ramping out of the bowl and deploying chute.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Probably too expensive to insure a stunt that dangerous for marketing.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Same

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He is also wearing a helmet

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

That's on case he falls off the bike, not off the balloon. Can you imagine the crap you'd get off your mates if you rode a BMX on a fucking hot air balloon and hurt yourself doing a bunny hop?!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well shit he IS wearing a helmet. I never thought I'd grow accustomed to safety gear. Didn't even notice it

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd be pissed if he wasn't. Being edgy isnt worth his life. Do you know how many athletes have died doing red bull promotion events?

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My surfboat row team approached RedBull for them to sponsor a boat. They said yes, but on condition we supply them with film of us going out in stupid dangerous conditions. We said nah, it's dangerous enough already. They're ruthless.
