The Medical Worker Day is a professional holiday of medical staff in Ukraine. Special thanks to military medics who are saving lives in the war zone, Eastern Ukraine.

Simplemente María. 92d brigade.
When mobilization is announced in your country, you jut join the army at the call of your heart and do what you can. This is exactly what this nice woman from a small village in the Odesa region did in 2015. One and a half months of training at the Shirokoy Lan training ground, and until recently a good housewife and mother of three, is going to the war zone.

"I was not a medic before the war. I mastered the profession of a combat medic and shooter-nurse in combat conditions. Field conditions did not frighten me. It was worse to see the suffering of our soldiers. We often had to evacuate our soldiers and it was very painful when we didn't manage to get them out alive," says pani Maria.

Once it happened that Mraia herself needed an evacuation. Her vehicle caught fire while moving, and while she was getting out, her face, neck, upper torso and arms were burned. Two months later, she was back in the brigade. About plastic surgery, although there is such a possibility, she does not want to talk yet, she dreams that there will be time after the victory.

The head of the medical center of the 93rd brigade named after Kholodny Yar Anatoly Chuikin.
Anattoly says: "In 2011 I graduated from Zaporizhia State Medical University. Worked as a surgeon in the 3rd city hospital of Zaporizhia. I wanted to go to war back in 2014 - it was a pity that our soldiers were dying. But my family was against it. However, I was drafted into the Armed Forces in 2017."
Anatoly served at Donestk province, abroad, then returned to Luhansk province.
"Of all the rotations I've worked in, this area is the most difficult from a tactical point of view. Therefore, we have more losses than in previous rotations.

Evacuation is also not easy - the average route here is more than 50 km. And about 30 km of them are absolute off-road. But we manage. Where the Bohdan does not pass, we can pull out either the MTLB or the Mercedes Unimog ambulance. It has a large ground clearance and good passability. But our main advantage is very well-trained doctors and combat medics. This allows us to provide specialized assistance in an ambulance. Fortunately, we did not have any deaths at the evacuation stage. Let it be so in the future."

Today is a holiday for brave people with good hearts and skillful hands. Military medics are called to save, protect and inspire.

"With the Angels in bulletproof vests," say the soldiers of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh, - it is not scary to go into battle, because they will always save us."

Whenever possible, military medics of the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh improve their professional skills in tactical medicine classes.

"Dear doctors, pharmacists, nurses and paramedics, combat medics, all representatives of the most humane profession, personnel and staff of the Operational Command "East" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine sincerely congratulates you on your professional holiday - the Day of the Medical Worker!

Thank you very much for saving the lives and health of the Ukrainian soldiers, for caring for our children, relatives and friends!"

Isn't shooting a medic a war crime, shouldn't they have red crosses on them to avoid this?

#35 I'm curious as to why the casualty card is written in English?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There are lots of multinational exercises in Germany and Eastern Europe and since the US hosts (and pays for it) most things are in English.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That makes sense. Thank you.

Many western countries contribute to Ukraine by paying and providing equipment and training.
