Unpopular opinion on Imgur: anyone who previously identified as a male shouldn’t be allowed in girls/women’s sports. If trans acceptance continues to grow (which I strongly agree it should) it’ll create a large enough pool of women athletes who developed bone and muscle structure that isn’t within the range of even elite female athletes who didn’t previously identify as male. Sexual dimorphism is real and can’t be denied. The only true alternative is for all sports leagues to be all-gendered

I prefer the Olympic standard from 2012-2024 - they acknowledged the multitude of studies showing that trans athletes have no competitive advantage over cis ones, provided they’ve been on HRT for two years.
Your opinion is unpopular because most people on here know this has nothing to do with being trans or cis, and everything to do with using the government to police femininity, followed by using the government for force women into traditional roles.

I’d agree with any policy that excludes the chance of “male advantage” in women’s and girls sports but I think you’ve misrepresented the research. This is far from conclusive. Those studies show that although some measurements might fall within range after 1-3 years others persist for much longer.
Regardless, girl only sports exist only because of inherent physical differences. Nearly all “boys” sports are technically “open” and allow all genders. Trans individuals should be welcome there

I didn’t say they can’t or shouldn’t exist. They should exist and be themselves, but being themselves doesn’t mean they can be whoever they want. If you are trans you are trans. Embrace it but you also have to accept the differences that come along with it. A woman who previously identified as male for any significant part of their life (years) will have developed differently physically than a cis woman. It’s the very reason HRT is the treatment. So body matches mind more closely…

… Women’s sports exist not because of “safe spaces” or misogyny but because of inherent developmental differences between typical men and women. There are plenty of examples of female athletes who recently transpositions completely dominating the women’s category and breaking longstanding records. It can’t simply be ignored in a search for social justice. You have to be certain you’re not creating a new injustice.
