Meanwhile when you point out that profit is by definition theft of the value of your labor you get poor people running to scream about how profit is good actually. Even though by definition profit is the amount of money you generated with your labor that the product was sold for, that you were not paid for. Profit is what is left after expenses are paid. If labor is paid the full value they generate, profit should be some value between 0 and negative infinity

I hate that its legal for a company to pay below a living wage, or commit other forms of wage theft. An employer can be legally stealing 10 loaves of bread from their staff per hour, but if that person steals just 1 loaf of bread a week to feed their families, all hell breaks loose. We need unions.

The fact that this post framed it as “stealing” is part of the problem. The rich have successfully set the narrative that any attempt to go after their wealth is theft. It’s not. They’ve gained far more from our society than most people, therefore, basic empathy and morality dictates that they give more back. If they aren’t willing to do it on their own, then it’s perfectly justified that the society dictate they do. It is not theft it just common fucking sense.

Literally everyone who works for a company has a rich person stealing from them. What you're paid is less than the value you created for the company through your labor. This is so they make a profit off of their decision to hire you, because capitalism means that breaking even = failure. No matter what you are being paid, unless you work for yourself you're making less than your work is worth.

Well, then all theft should result in the thief going to jail, but lo and behold, the wage thief is free. The amount stolen should directly impact the amount of jail time. A 5 buck loaf of bread, 5 minutes in jail. 10 million buck wage theft, 10 million minutes in jail.
