Free Russia!

How many more jets are left until the Russian Air Force is just paper planes?
SecretAgentSuperBooger
RhinoNaut
That's a not insignificant chunk of Putins yearly budget.

So, all in all, the three day operation is going pretty well?

Putin declared he plans to take the entirety of Ukraine.
Well, FUCK PUTIN.

Every one of these lost is huge. Russia cannot replace these aircraft. They have neither the money nor the tech base to do so.
DrunkGermanGuy
They can replace these Sukhois, their production line is active. It is still a significant loss that will eat up tons of valuable resources, not to mention there are now fewer of these aircraft until a replacement enters service.
I think you might have these confused with the larger strategic bombers of the Russian Air Force, which are not only much fewer in numbers to begin with, but genuinely can't be replaced if lost. Which is why "Operation Spiderweb" was such a massive success for Ukraine
Ikwilstroopwaffels
How many can Russia realistically produce a year. 10?
RecurringNightmare
more like 20-30 i would assume...apparently serial production started 1982 and by 2023 around 680 had been produced, not running full capacity the whole time as some were produced for other nations and those contracts are a bit chewy to come together, also modernizations and other stuff took up resources...su-27s im talking about...
LincLoud
Even if they have the money/tech to do so, it is a slow process. By the time one leaves the factory/assembly line, multiple other pieces of equipment could be destroyed.
michiyl
And if they are buying back their own planes (or parts of it) from other nations, that's a bad signal to your own people
RecurringNightmare
multiple other have already been destroyed in these three years or war...every single one that gets destroyed will be missing "forever" meaning until russia eventually manages to arrive at target strength again, which will probably not happen while this war still lasts...its just huge...those 3 SU-27s probably were around 5% of all of those things that were still in operatable condition, and they are just gone now...

I have the video, but of course Imgur won’t let me upload it.
They literally waltz up to the jets, enter the cockpit, douse the jets with petrol and set them alight.
BurntRamen
Wow, modern problems can still be solved by old solutions.
cytherians
Excellent.
Putin controls all of state media, but I hope people are getting around that... and that Russians are truly realizing just how fucked up things are under Putin. We need more of them to join the underground resistance and help Ukraine carry out missions like this.
widiwi
if you convert it into a gif it will still show moving images.
Codyblues
Less metal gear solid then I was imagining but still cool as fuck. How we see this video?
wadeye
If you click on the link provided above the Kyiv Independent has now added a link to watch the video on YouTube.
Codyblues
Nice. I checked out the link but didn’t see the video.
It’s pretty metal gear

Halfway through the article:

StarmineRendezvous
If things are that bad for Russia it should just be a matter of time for them to lose at this point. The chain of command is broke.
leechdemon
Yup! Time for a major part of Ukraine's support to wage war in a completely unrelated part of the globe...
Verbodentoegang
Make stop motion rendition with toys and post it as a gif (F@cking medialab and what else) “it went something like this”
