We used Swheat scoop which was made from wheat, it is clumping.

Yeah, it's like a "surprise" proposal when you've both talked about it enough to know that you want it and are ready for it, and the surprise part is really just a matter of the exact when and how.
My ex kept throwing out things like "I wanted to do it this weekend but we had some scheduling issues with the marching band." And then he got my best friend to ask to hang out at the park and bring me to the spot where he was waiting.
Doesn't matter, all family members need to actually meet the specific animal in question and agree to taking that individual animal. If a person says "i really want a golden!" you can't get them just any golden and assume it's gonna work out, because even within a breed there are meaningful personality differences.
Note this is primarily for dogs, cats have their own distribution system and if selected you will be assigned a cat, it is your job to change your self to reflect the cat's wishes.

Iād say you can. We choose my childhood puppy bc he was the most curious and brave one - he was a sheltie and they can be a little timid so we wanted one who was curious and with a lot of personality, and we choose the right one no doubt :)

There were 5 or 6, one beautifully brindle-grey male, the others soft brown females. We hung out with them for an hour or so and were debating whether to get one while we drove home. The statement was made, "If we do get one it'd have to be... and we both said "Marvel" at the same time. Her personality fit. So... Yes.
Whilst the initial investment can be expensive, it feels like there would be more in ongoing costs as well as responsibility and/or impact i.e. chewed items, mess
It shouldn't matter the cost of whether or not to surprise your spouse with a puppy. Ive fostered for shelters and rescues for 17yrs and everyone (including current pets) in the home has to meet the puppy/dog before adoption
Because there are major differences in different dog breeds, and what they need from you to have a healthy life, right from the start. You don't just walk into a shelter and say "one dog, please" and just accept whatever they give you. There are enormous differences between a chihuahua and a saint Bernard or a malinois.
