Would the frost weaken the log? Ice causing the layers to split alil.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think sap is hard to freeze, but in extreme cases it can hurt or even break the "heartwood" https://www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/1hvs3dv/eli5_what_happens_to_wood_when_its_really_cold/

Badass af

Controversial person, some people say she's fake. But look at that stance!

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It takes YEARS of intentionally hardening your bones and toughening your leg to be able to do this.

But I have no doubt that some macho man dumbass is gonna go try this and wreck himself.

I hope he records and posts it...

There's a lot of training, but they flex the muscle in front of their shin so it does the impact instead of pure bone. Using the muscles to create a rigid support for the shin bone keeps it from snapping. Some folks don't know this or time it poorly and end up with the broken shin technique

You know this is fake, right?

Remember when lumber cost more than gold? Good times.

These are powerful kicks, the boards are real (sometimes they use a baseball bat) but there is always about a 1% chance that either a bone breaks or a severe hematoma results (sometimes compartment syndrome) - and that's in the trained athletes.

Scam link.

She and most of her stuff is fake. Take a look on YouTube. Not saying she doesn't have skills but a lot of it is bs.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

While impressive I wonder what kind of board that is, you could take a sledge hammer to the side of a pine 2x4 and it would just laugh.

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

probably balsa wood

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Likely balsa, and the boards are spaced apart specifically to make them easier to break. If those were stacked with no gaps not even Chuck Norris would be able to kick through them.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Yes the boards meant to break to showcase breaking are indeed meant to be breakable. How you try it next and we can stack them nice and close just for you

Sometimes the contrast between western and asian culture is stark - here we admire people swinging an axe to split wood.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 9

I don't understand the downvotes. This just seems like you're appreciating the strength, no?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's interesting. Almost 50/50 up and down votes. I didn't think this would be so controversial. I did indeed appreciate the strength displayed and how it's perceived or displayed differently in our cultures.
