The 4.10lsd in place and looking happy, but why was it making so much noise? I could hear a grinding on accel and decel lockup.
Oh! I forgot that I drained the fluid several months ago before pulling it from the other car.
I filled it with 1 quart of Redline 75w90 GL-5 and half a quart of Redline DCTF (all I had laying around). Grinding is gone, whirring is loud. Hopefully the correct amount of the correct fluid will fix things.
And this is what happens when a Waymo gets towed. At least, that's what I guess is under that oddly specific shaped car cover...

If you've driven it for any time with no oil it's had a really bad day and will likely fail soon. I'd be shopping for a spare just in case.

Meh, I'd just rebuild it. Ring and pinion from the open diff should be good. I have new clutches and plates. I doubt the ramps are bad.

I'm not used to it being worth the effort of rebuilding vs just swapping in a good used one.

Yeah, maybe put the right 75w140 now ?? I thought all US 6 cyl ph2 had the big 4.10 LSD or was it just the automatic.

6 cylinder cars all had the medium case diff (188mm), most autos had open difs. I was told this came from an e30m3, but no way to know.
