Even if they intended to stop at trans people, we should still oppose this. This is letting the executive branch target citizens who have committed no crime, and strip them of rights without due process. Blatant violation of 2nd and 5th amendment, but we can't rely on this fucking supreme court to care about that anymore.

The premise for this legal trap is that they're trying to make it difficult to not lie on the 4473 Form that is required when purchasing a firearm from an FFL. If you enter the info on your state ID and it contradicts the Executive Order definition of "sex", that may constitute a felony. It remains to be seen if it will also result in an immediate denial of transfer, but the crime itself would be a 15 year prison sentence and loss of your rights, including ever buying a gun again.
