Direct infection? Yes. Impact? No. They DID harbor the fleas that cause most of the infection.
It was predominantly human fleas and lice that transmitted the y pestis.. so humans past it to each other at a much higher rate than the rat

Rats with normal tooth placement do not have to chew to wear down their teeth. They grind them on their own, usually when happy or stressed.
