The great Itlaian singer Adriano Celentano claimed that Italians would buy any music that sounded American. So he released this record which is complete gibberish but sounds American.

It was one of his biggest hits.

This is a catchy tune. Who cares if it's gibberish?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I think he's known more as a great actor rather than singer

Were there even lyrics? Or he just said whatever gibberish came to mind and matched the music every set?

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It was lyrics that have no meaning but were constructed to sound english, so they would be the same every performance and not just made up.

https://youtu.be/Xn_OLnMriRg. I really like the update. Turns it into a banging dance hit.

Guy made up a song full of gibberish to poke fun at people. yea, but the song is fucking fire, though.

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say this sounds like an English guy if he was drunk.

When I first heard this song, I didn’t know any of the background a out it. It tripped my tiny brain right out.

Same dude!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This was a clever gimmick. But his "regular" music is pretty good too.

I seeded an absolutely epic playlist with this song on vacation once. Also, the harmonica player is his wife

Had to Google quick because part of me wasn't fully convinced that this was not in fact Sasha Baron Cohen in a new role.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clearly people bought it because of those dynamite dance moves

I started listening before I read the description and thought I was having a stroke

Can you imagine trying to remember the “words” to that on stage

You should try listening to somebody speak Welsh. Feels like having a stroke.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The first time I watched this, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't understand what he was saying.

Eyes

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that's the point. it's supposed to be english as it sounds to someone who doesn't speak it. 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it follows the phonological rules (which sounds where) of english, so your brain keeps trying to interpret it as english.

How on earth did he memorise the lyrics! Did he memorise the lyrics?

4 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Given that he wrote the lyrics, memorizing his lyrics isn't that hard!

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

It's great, every performance is an original!

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Instead of lyrics, think of it as pieces of words. American English pronunciation can be broken up into syllables, then mixed together.

Me when my anime intro keeps switching between English and Japanese

4 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

It's especially annoying when you kind of know just enough Japanese that occasionally the subtitles don't match up right....

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Jrock with random english thrown in there. Im looking at you Pillows.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard I got iced lads.... alright... at one point

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

No wait, it's "I got iced by chance lads... allright"

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Something something “and it doesn’t go with pizza, alright” also in the longer version theres “since my colored boss died.”

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"I got glazed by chance, lads", oh, soz, that was me Saturday

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Since this became a hit, that means he had to sing gibberish correctly.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He was still performing this song last time I checked. It's a huge hit in Europe.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was pleasantly surprised to see it posted. He did this live for decades, hugely popular in Europe.

This comment completes me. Great writer. Garbage singer.

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

He had such a weird nasally voice but honestly the quality of his writing and the simplicity of his tunes made them great to sing along to.

Glad for the caption. I thought that was the most busted Henry Winkler in the history of all Henry Winklers.

That’s what brought me here

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe if you translated the harmonica part.

Best comment here, bravo

With how popular Bob Dylan was/is I don't understand how it happened.

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Drugs.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Eh, he’s a great lyricist but some also would argue he couldn’t carry a tune with a five gallon bucket
