Not to be a buzzkill, coz I would have loved pop tarts for lunch. But most likely more of a fire hazard. Bringing an electrical into a place of work (school counts) that wasn't tested could lead to a fire hazard. Just saying, please to burn me.

Work morning shift at a bar on Sunday that has no brunch. We bored, decide to start bringing in skillet and making breakfast for front of house (not trying to be an ass but I was being that way). Gm says its rude to not bring enough for all (despite kitchen making their own anyways). Next week bring in enough for all and feed the peeps. Still get yelled at for no one in the bar and everyone working getting a bite. Ppl like to wield bs power

They probably don't allow it for the same reason my job doesn't allow us to bring our own appliances, OSHA. There is an approved list of appliances that have been tested and are double-insulated, which costs more, which is why they aren't common for household use.

Very much so! I suppose most millennials can't do much worse raising kids than boomers. I see a bunch of kids that would pull stuff like this automatically. We're not perfect, but you see more fathers helping out, spending time with their kids, less "guy stuff" and "girl stuff"...

I mean, toasters are kinda dangerous. I don’t want kids fiddling with an outlet, carrying around a possible blunt object, or risk anyone burning themselves while trying to act funny around their friends. Not to mention, if the kid breaks the toaster at school, the school wouldn’t be surprised if the parents asked the school to pay for it.

Pretty much every school I went to hated it when kids did anything other than sit quietly in class. All deviation from the norm was actively suppressed.

The entire purpose of school under capitalism is training a workforce. They don't want free spirited independent thinkers, they want workers who are just educated enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, but otherwise shut up and blend in.

I used to start cults. I'm not sure how. Like it was a funny joke, and I read the bible a lot because I went to christian school at first and for some reason I just had a knack for it. It's rather weird to think about but in jr high and high school I occasionally had legit followers and it was really fun.

My wife used to teach at a school that emphasized visual and performing arts, whole language, and multiage classrooms. It was also a year round school. Public, open to everyone - best place ever.

I was told as a kid that I wasn't allowed to doodle skeletons on my own notebook. No blood, no weapons. No vulgar language. Just pencil skeletons with different facial expressions. Apparently my drawings (as a 10 year old) were too scary for other kids to potentially see on my personal property.

Not every country needs metal detectors at the entrance. Here the only thing they have to deny you entry to a school building are some "No entry allowed if you don't belong here!" kinda signs.

Many doors have locks that keep people from entering from the outside, but allow people inside to exit, to comply with fire codes while having some security against unwanted entry. These have been common in schools in case people are present after the building is locked even before the increase in school shootings.
