I’m temporarily fostering Gigi while we wait for her spay surgery, and then she can go to her forever mama @IsAHotdogASandwich. I had a rough day at work, and I am having a blast booping this little girl’s nose. She puts up with me very nicely.
She’s being so snuggly and I SO appreciate it. My trainer at work spent no less than four hours today berating me for doing things “wrong” (aka: not the way SHE would do it). I’m doing the best I can and all I get are nasty, disrespectful comments and snide, cruel remarks.
I’ve NEVER met someone who is SO rude and mean and I cannot BELIEVE I have to depend on her to learn my job. People several cubes down from me messaged me today to ask if I was OK because they heard the way she was talking to me.
I could not be happier that I am going to Guatemala on Wednesday with Bestie. Nine days free from this hell. And I’m very grateful to little Gigi. She made me smile and giggle tonight. Kittens really are a balm on the soul (edit: sorry, did a little trauma dumping there. Ignore my complaints, focus on the cute kitten!! I just had to get that shit off my chest)
Vysard
What a precious fuzzface.
sirbartonslady
Going to Guatemala after you had to cancel last trip = awesome. Going with Bestie? GIRL I AM SO BIG JELLY OF YOU!!

Fuck that bitch! That’s not how you lead.

Fuck Nicole! My offer still stands, I know a Guy.

As an atheist, I haven't heard of a better case made for god than "Dog's nose". Cat's nose seems like a contender.
BeezusQ
Yeah, they know we need to work, do not want to give up our benefits, tenure or retirement. We become hostages to the abuse and they know we have so little power and choice to protect ourselves...
Pikkupanda
How dare you apologize for “trauma dumping” when all you do is post content that eases OUR trauma?
I have a dear friend in Europe who apologizes unnecessarily and when she does I tell her to “put a euro in the jar” for superfluous apologies.
@op? Put a euro in the jar. 🫶🏻

"I climb up on the titty. This is a good space."

You are giving me PTSD re a vile manager I had. She made me loathe everything and, same, coworkers would check in an comment about what a bitch she was. I would go into the restroom just to get away from her. The person before me quit, I quit within 3 months, the hire after me quit in 2 days. Ugh. Good for Gigi and upcoming trip. Whenever I stupidly fantasize about the lottery it is not about stuff, I dream about freedom.
spittytrinkles
People need a paycheck, they will tolerate some horrible jobs and not Quit.
People don't Quit Bad Jobs, They Quit Bad Bosses.
PinktTaco
My experience with toxic work bosses says start looking for a new job. It's a "them" problem, not a "you" problem and you can't really fix it. But in the meantime learn what you can, collect your paycheck and try to let it roll off your back like water off a duck.

A bad boss makes for a very sucky stressful job. I wish you had better.
AdmiralButtStuff
Hey! That's a leg!
AlmostClever
My last job before COVID was like that. Got trained by just the nastiest person, passive aggressive and unhelpful etc. Getting fired was almost a relief.
Nomestoo
Your trainer is a bully and the other staff know it.
tallyhoho
Here are some tips to put your bitchy trainer off balance. They say something unhinged: brightly agree! You are so right, I knew there was a better way of doing that, that's just brilliant! They take joy in watching you deflate - do not give it to them. Other option is silence. They go off just nod breezily. It will drive them insane and the will eventually give up. Don't show they negatively affect you at all - be cool like cucumber you got this
pluralone
This. I have successfully killed a few bullies with kindness. Feels kind of bad at first, being nice to someone so vile, but after a while it feels great. AND - at least for me - more often than not, they change their behavior... maybe only toward me, but I still think it's a win.
tallyhoho
You know you don't mean it and are really laughing at them behind their back and that's all that really matters, stupid bitches
pluralone
Eh. I like to think that I actually do intend to be kind, that I really do mean it. I mean as best I can when faced with such behavior. The flip side is if it's not effective at least THEY are the ones who feel bad (because they couldn't get a rise out of me). It must really, really suck to be that miserable, ya know? So miserable that the only 'joy' they get is from trying to make others feel worse than they do. It's too sad (for me) to laugh at.
tallyhoho
People like this don't feel bad or ashamed like us and are rarely held accountable for their bullying. Anyone who wants to hurt others deserves zero respect
pluralone
Oh yeah. I held no respect for them, but - and this is just me - I can't help feeling a little sorry for anyone who is that utterly miserable. As for being held accountable, that's on the higher-ups who hired them, who know they're treating other employees like that, and don't give a rip.

What I giant B. Have fun in Guatemala!!!!

I’m sorry work is so awful. :(
NotThisGuyAgain
I'm so jelly! My cat will allow my boyfriend to do nose-boops, but absolutely refuses them from me! Even when he's a super snuggle-monster, like he was tonight! Sigh.
spittytrinkles
Have a great time! Be with people who truly enjoy being with YOU, not your Work-Persona or your @Online-Presence, Just YOU.
spittytrinkles
I have found, that in the absence of kittens, Friends can also be a balm to the Soul.
(Though I doubt there will be an absence of kittens, Cats will seek you out. Wherever you are.)
CaptnVatka
KFD, Are you taking notes regarding how this individual is treating you? Are you obtaining correlation statements from your coworkers?
KittensForDays
I feel like I should start
KittensForDays
I’m afraid of retaliation. She’s still gonna be the person training me, there’s only three of us on the team. What good does it do me to track her behavior?
WillCorrectInaccuraciesForFood
Does your work not have a professional behavior policy? Perhaps if brought to a supportive manager (or union steward?) with documentation the behavior could be corrected. That's a hard spot to be in.
CaptnVatka
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
AntaNce
Please save the messages regarding those who asked if you were OK. Ask if they will say why they were concerned if needed.
chickenoodlesoup
If you document her behavior then you'll have it in your back pocket to defend yourself in the future - don't use it to attack her, it's only for your defense (hopefully you'll never need it and she'll just be transferred to another dept & will leave you alone)
sirbartonslady
Yes, this! Don't use it as a cudgel, use it as a shield!
IWasGoingToMakeEspresso
This! My first instinct now is to document, document, document whenever I get abused at work. In case this helps, Alabama is also a single-party concent state.
NiaFoltchaem
Psychologically it lets you see day in and day out that she is the crazy one, not you. Write down what you remember and who comforted you, in a blunt and honest way in a dated and page numbered spiral bound notebook kept at home. Keep it up even if she “gets better” for a long while.
No one deserves the verbal and emotional abuse she is putting you through. Is there someone at work in that you can ask to keep an extra eye on you when she and you are interacting? No need to respond.
IsAHotdogASandwich
Dude she's the best. I'm ready to have her back.
HillOfBeans
You must really miss her. Adoption is a complicated process sometimes but she’s your baby!
IsAHotdogASandwich
I do. I got to see her last night and it was really cool seeing her reaction when she realized I was there. She poked her head out of hiding, saw me, and pranced right up to me. Later during the visit she rolled over to give me her belly for pets, something she has not done for @KittensForDays voluntarily. She does begrudgingly accept them from her though.
HillOfBeans
That’s great! You’re her real mom. KFD is the good stepmother.
