I'd love to see the first few asked of powerful people - might cause some insight of themselves. But who am I kidding, they probably wouldn't see any problem with their knee-jerk answers

I know it’s a compilation, but Back To Basics is honestly one of my favorite albums of all time.

There was an interview clip I saw of him recently that everyone should see, how he gets completely floored by a simple followup from a very friendly interviewer: https://youtu.be/p7ZG_xWYLzI?t=1609

He just can't answer, not even a BS buzzword one just no answer.

Might have mentioned that by "him" (under a post about Billy Brag speaking of Tony Benn) you were referring to the least interesting person (Musk rat) also mentioned in passing.

Sorry yes by "him" I meant Musk not Bragg.

Tony Benn was the only politician in my memory, that NO ONE had a bad word to say about when he died. Remarkable politician and, if you were in his constituency, would tirelessly fight for your rights…

4 months ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

That's impossible now. When someone who fights for legitimate rights dies, the right wing will shit on them for getting in their way.

I agree. He was highly respected. And he campaigned to leave the EU and supported Brexit because the EU is so undemocratic. He explains here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWnpbEMMsNw (I met him once. He came into a store I worked in many years ago to buy a Sony hifi.)

A classic example is the current EU President Ursula Von de Layen. She was one the Commission, all appointed, not elected, and was chosen to be President in a secret meeting of those Commissioners. And only the Commission can put bills before the EU Parliament. The elected MEPs cannot propose bills, only vote on what is put in front of them.

All true, but Brexit was about leaving the EU because they were, despite your evidence, still too democratic for the conservative parties. Nobody will deny the shortcomings of the EU, but Brexit was a power move from people with little interest in democracy. Could the UK do better then the EU? Certainly, but MAGA hasn't made America better and the Brexiteers haven't made Britain great either.

You think Brexit was a "conservative" thing? Benn was a Labour MP. The official leave campaign was run by a Labour MP. She was the one who put that infamous slogan on that bus. Most Conservative ministers and senior politicians were strongly anti Brexit and campaigned to stay. As Benn said in this video I as a Brit can vote out the UK Prime Minister. I had no power over the EU President, and couldn't even chose my EU member of parliament. Brexit was democracy defeating the political elite.

So were do I place UKIP in the political spectrum? Did they share the political views of Benn? I remember Brexit with a lot of racism, fearmongering and half truths, but I am glad you could find the silver lining. Brexit to me was primarly white people voting against an enemy that wasn't the root cause of their problems, but I could be biased given my information came from EU media.

That was Paul Wellstone. The state of MN still tries to carry on his ideals if we can.
