The police prefer a red circle around suspects.

And then they beat the brown people, red circle or not. ACAB!

We're all assuming the criminal actually went that way. Maybe the kids aren't snitches and the criminal wen a different way completely.

For the US; this is where police ARE concerned for public safety and only chase ACTUAL criminals. /s

I don't know if it's because I've seen the movies so many times or it's the distinct style, but even with a bunch of half detailed background characters, I still knew this was a Ghibli flick.

It is from Porco Rosso

I blame the parents...

For raising kids that not only feel a social responsibility to their community but are also smart enough to come up with this idea on the spot?

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Yes. That's the entirety of the joke. I was subverting the trope.

"I blame the parents... [For raising such community minded children]".

Honestly, I thought the ellipsis made it clear...

In this context it wasn't obvious to me -- OP's post describes these kids as "snitches" which is a negative term, and I've sadly seen a few too many people complain about others reporting folks for illegal acts.

Usually because they like to engage in these acts themselves (speeding, parking violations), but these days US police abuses also seem to have spurred a global rejection of law enforcement among netizens, so it's no longer unfeasible that some folks might actually defend burglars.

Fun fact: in the UK, the only police that carry guns are the ones approved to be part of the armed response unit. Approval that only comes when you prove to the shrink that you're not a trigger happy psycho who thinks they should punctuate an order with a drawn weapon, regardless of whether there's any actual threat.

God am i sick of watching this on television, every arrest is made at the point of a gun, like they're dealing with a terror cell. Even bullshit non violent noncrimes like pot

I remember an d “joke” from years ago about. British police not carrying guns so to a criminal they’d say: “stop! Or I’ll yell stop some more!” Or something along those lines

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You say this as if police in the States are all running into any confrontation gun in hand with blood thirst, but that's not always the case. You see, this one time in Uvalde…

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Not all,no. By no means. But it's a lot more than it's going to be in a place where traffic stops aren't armed.

(For the record, my point was to give them crap for the Uvalde fiasco the one time they were supposed to use force.)

A non-American would know this how…?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I somehow didn't read that last word. Yeah, i hate this place. I believe you should be able to defend yourself if someone invades your home, but then you see certain prosecutors actually trying people for that, "successfully", in places where they have castle doctrine (instead of " duty to retreat ") the cops are also not required to intervene in a crime, that's case law way before Uvalde. I really truly wish my people had picked a different country
