In my area of Alaska, we do not have night from April 15 to August 15th. There's just twilight for 4 months.

It was a fun movie, but it was definitely written by someone who had never been to an Alaskan town. There simply wasn't enough guns. Alaskans are nuts. Heck, my buddy's dad had rifle racks lining the stairs when going from living room to bedrooms. And reloading stands in the garage. Small guns, big guns, Alaskans have them all.

In iceland one time I had a really good sleep - but when I woke up I was confused - I only slept for 2 hours? No - I slept for 14hours and you just cant freaking tell without the sun.

Its not quite as stark as all that for most of Alaska, you still have daylight but the sun never really makes it over the mountains/horizon, so its indirect and brief.

No! Planes fly at night. Booze isn't regulated by the sun. The sun isn't up for 8 hours and then sets in a blaze of glory for a month. On the last day, it's up for 6 minutes. People don't leave the state for the dark. Schools don't close for the dark. How did he even find all those satellite phones? On the first day of sun, it's up for 6 minutes, so his sacrifice is meaningless because now he's not there to fight and there's 23 hours and 54 minutes of dark again!! Also too many closeups. Ugh.

It is pretty much just during the solstice. Sun never comes up during the winter solstice and doesn't really go down in the summer solstice. 22 hours of functional daylight during the summer solstice.

The movie was apparently relatively accurate in its premise of "super isolated town" with the exception of the real town having daily supply planes and technically it is possible, but extremely risky, to drive to the nearest town (still like 80 miles over ice and frozen snow) so the vampires may be less dangerous

I liked Coppalas Dracula a lot. The Lost Boys is always fun. Let The Right One In is pretty impressive, My all time favorite has to be the 1931 Bela Legosi Dracula. Its just the standard, imo.

It’s one of those great movies that’s next to impossible to find that got kinda buried for some reason. It’s like half the cast of “Aliens” directed by Kathryn Bigelow.
It’s the best vampire movie the same way American Werewolf In London is the best werewolf movie IMHO.

It's a solar lamp and they didn't know it would work but ok. Also, they only changed 1 thing from the graphic novel and it's a doozy, but movie is still fire.
