Thank god for confined space training and OSHA safety measures or I’d never stay down here long. Good air quality and air flow with monitoring, hardwired communications with top side, evacuation procedures in place. Time to run some pipe! This basement floor is 2’ below sea level in a WW1 era dockside warehouse. Love this shit! Edit: more videos and work progress. https://imgur.com/gallery/GvLXALZ

Looks like you can actually stand in there. Last time I've been inside such supply shafts I've spend the day crawling...

All I hear in my mind when I see this is the "Unsolved Mysteries" theme.

So you're working on the remake of Friday the 13th Part VIII, Jason Takes Manhattan?

No doubt. It looks really bad!

Have fun with all the SCPs down there

I’ve played this game. You have a terrible, terrible death.

Laughable with your CE training. Try water tanks with only an 18" hatch

I just want to mop that floor. Ugh. Someone pay me my current salary and I'll go sweep mop wax buff that sucker until it shines.

Underground substation/building hook up/maintenance?

Renovating existing spaces and converting to labs. We’re adding plumbing infrastructure for future tenant fit out.

Oh snap. Have fun with that! Sounds like a huge project! Stay safe above all else. Those situations can be sketchy.

All the buildings at my campus were heated by steam from a central plant. the tunnels looked like this. We never knew about enclosed - 1

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

2 - spaces, so we mapped out the whole campus from underground. we were able to enter most buildings via the mechanical room.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3 - later on we got jobs running fiber optics because we were able to navigate the tunnels by memory.

4 - lucky we always had oxygen. might have had asbestos too.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Backrooms level 2?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Watch out for mirelurks. Looks like it could be good nesting grounds...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh... I hope you don't listen to horror stories.... >.>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ya. This looks like where the clickers hide. I half expect to find a sentient mold there

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Sentient mold? Now I wanna replay Control.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Damm. Yes. I didn't finish it. I'm at like 75%

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ohhh I wanna go exploring! what a good location for a horror game :)

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

if you've ever heard of The Backrooms, one of the first 13 subdimensions is basically this, just hot and with monsters.

Reminds me of some of the reactor and research lab levels in Stalker....a Ukranian game. Slava Ukraina!

Watched a friend playing once, got jumpscared so bad his instant reflex was to hit the restart button on the front of his pc (above desk)

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It’s always so unsettling to me that these kinds of spaces are always there. And just exist, empty for decades. So freaky

How does confined space training work?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

They teach you about the hazards involved with working in areas like this like oxygen levels etc. you have to be certified to work in them

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

They take you into a large room, and give you a lecture for a couple of hours, and then move onto a smaller room. This then repeats.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

they just mandate safety stuff like air sample testing and egress, it's simple and boring af.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And the lack of that training still kills people on industrial sites every year.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

if they skimp on the training you can bet they'll skimp on the actual safety.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

How much unused pipe do you think is down there?

4 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

How much is in at least 50% of Imgurians pants?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least 2 inches..

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just keep breathing.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All that large pipe you see is abandoned.

4 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

Take it to the scrap yard and weigh it in. It’s what they would have wanted.
