Torture at ICE private prison detention company facilities /gallery/torture-ice-private-detention-centers-bSU3TeW

After the activists were detained and banged around, I bet IDF families started moving into their homes in other countries like they do in Palestine.

War and torture are generally looked upon as bad things that should never happen.

This message from the Israeli government is patently evil. Laws are meant to be used as a deterrence. Boasting that you routinely torture captives that you brand as terrorists, to make their lives miserable, as some sort of deterrence... should be a Geneva Convention violation.

I will never forget or forgive what Israel has done to the Palestinian people. Never going to visit that nation, ever.

I logically know there are innocent people in Israel, like children and people who oppose their nazi regime and genocide. But I do want to just torch the whole place to get rid of the nazis. If we could just get the innocent out and leave the nazis behind I would argue for bombing Israel. Enough is enough.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This is a wild idea, I know, but... What if we did that? Just relocated everyone, and carpet-bombed the whole place. I dunno where you'd move an entire nation to, but there's gotta be livable space on Earth somewhere.

If those children weren't terrorists, then indiscriminately killing them would be reprehensible and evil.

I think what constantly gets lost here is the only reason they are all so young in Gaza is that Israel just culls them all every few decades, otherwise they would be adults and nobody would even care! /s

Sweden and all other countries whose citizens were illegally kidnapped from international waters and tortured should declare war on Israel.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Swedens embassy couldn't even be bothered to bring Greta and the other tortured swedes water. Our foreign ministry said "they had only themselves to blame, stop bothering us (the foreign department) about it"

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And they lied to families of the captured activists about conditions they were in, access to water etc. Someone should reveal the names of the consular staff who visited the prison so that their fucking careers are over.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Seems like they need to be removed from office, as they clearly don't do their job.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The government seems very pleased with their performance, and there's very little media reporting about it.

The opposition would have an open goal forcing their resignation but they aren't trying either. It's all so fucked

They dw because they do not want the truth to be told. Same why we never see any posts here abt Hamas brutal crimes against Palestinians, yes, against Palestinians.
They care about the destruction of the jewish state (one of the most upvoted comments here) and they care about Hamas (another highly upvoted comment).

You deserve the same treatment

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. ”She[Greta] told about harsh treatment and that she had to sit long on a hard surface” is the only witness statement there.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Apparently you can't read Swedish.

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I can. "Enligt Svante Liljegren har inte svenskarna berättat om att man blivit slagen för personalen som besökte svenskarna i fängelset." It says "According to Svante Liljegren (Foreign Ministry) the Swedes have not told the visiting staff that they were beaten in prison". Önskas något mer?

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 10

Did you read the rest. Everywhere else including the first half of the article details how they were treated.

But a little SD wanker takes a quote from the one official who visited them in prison where they were about to go back to their cells & their torturers at face value.

The school system failed you. Badly.

While also being a young woman surrounded by violent men of a fascist regime. It’s terrifying.

10 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

Given what I have heard about IDF prisons, i am thankful she did not get violated, because that specific kind of assault is from what i hear not uncommon from their prisons on captured women.

10 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

I will never understand the hate the right has against Greta. She’s a bright young woman fighting a million times harder for shit she believes in than people triple her age.

There was a time that even people that didn’t agree with her would still admire her resolve, not belittle and dismiss her.

Shame on you. Making fun of her is incredibly pathetic. You need take a look at yourself and try to figure out why a young woman standing her ground against injustices is so upsetting for you.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, I'm a moderate/centrist, but I'd say it's because while Greta has good intentions, she's incompetent scientifically and just has no idea what's actually happening climate-wise. (or with Israel, for that matter)

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

Sounds like you've swallowed anti-Greta propaganda tbh. She's never claimed to be competent scientifically. You don't have to be a scientist to be a science communicator or an advocate. You just have to LISTEN to the experts. But you don't seem to get that, or you've listened too much to conspiracy theorists that tell you to distrust experts.

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

If you're centrist, you're a right winger. There is no centrism when the overton window has moved that far to the right.

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Hardly. I think I might actually be slightly left of center these days, but it's pretty close. I'm just not naive enough to think the far left is any better than the far right.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You do understand she was physically beaten, right? They knocked her to the floor and kicked her.

10 months ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 5

Link? I don't think I've seen her mention that in the post-release articles.

10 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 45

She said that. The Swedish Foreign Ministry otoh said she never complained about being beaten when they visited her in the prison. https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/ud-ska-undersoka-hur-greta-thunberg-behandlats-i-israels-fangelse

10 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I recall that; that was during a time when another activist was claiming she was being sexually assaulted in prison. Only quotes I saw from her after she was released only talked about a forced photo of her in front of an Israeli flag.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Then you might want to widen your news source pool.
Because it was in most news outlets reporting.
The only ones that played that portion down are the ones who don't want to make Israel look bad.

10 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, they shouldn't have. However there is no path to removing them as a country that doesn't involve genocide and/or ethnic cleansing - so if you're calling to "get rid of" Israel then be clear about what you're suggesting.

IMO there's still a ton of diplomatic measure that can be used, it'll just require other countries growing a spine and actually implementing sanctions/etc.

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Get rid of their government and merge their people into the Palestinian population. Give free transit to those who want to go to big daddy USA.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

"Get rid of their government" - right, this a big sticking point. Especially for a country with nuclear weapons. There's no real way to do it - I guess someone could mount a full scale invasion and just hope they don't trigger a nuclear war.

That's not a real solution, it's just a wish.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I didn't say it was viable. I don't think there is a viable one. But you said "there is no path to removing them as a country that doesn't involve genocide and/or ethnic cleansing" which is just wrong. My point is that it's about the government, not the people.

10 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No? How exactly do you propose to do that?

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Complete destruction of their government would be a start. Then again, I would say that about any theocratic state.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but *realistically* how do you propose to do that? Without starting WWIII?

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't see complete destruction of the human race as a bad thing, so not starting WW3 would not be a concern of mine.

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, I won't imagine we will see eye to eye if you can't see the inherent incompatibility in your own position.

I am still against Hamas AND Israel. Both need to go. Both are terrorists.

10 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 6

Gotta be against Israel to be against Hamas - Netanyahu pays their way, after all.

10 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I mean... not really. They never "became" the only option and there WERE other options. Hamas came into power because Netanyahu specifically put his thumb on the scale to install them to power because he saw their extreme position as detrimental to negotiations.

There were other, better, more moderate options available, but a Netanyahu-lead Israel determined those options risked deescalation, which was detrimental to their political/military goals.

10 months ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 4

No he didn't. They organically won power because they ran on an anti-corruption ticket.

Netanyahu actually thought he could buy them off, which he couldn't but then used their legit emancipationary goals as the reason why Israel had to defend itself.

Hamas was not at fault what so ever, their goals were entirely defensive in nature and have never operated outside of Historic Palestine.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 30

Exactly. Bibi needed an opponent, not peace.

10 months ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

More than his thumb, his pocketbook, as he stated proudly in the Jerusalem Times in 2014, 2017, and 2019.

10 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Hamas is just as fucked up as Israel, they just don't have nearly as much power. The Palestinian people deserve better than Hamas for leadership, just as they deserve to live in peace in their own damn land.

10 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 3

Hamas is an Israeli weapon, bought and paid for.

10 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

No, they are the reaction to decades of rejected diplomatic solutions and Israeli apartheid. Even Ehud Barak, ex prime minister, replied he would join a terrorist group if he was Palestinian.

10 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’m so confused if two states would help or just let them fight it out. It’s insane that they can’t live together due to religion. I know it’s land and history, but just get over it to save your kids. It’s not that crazy an idea. Less religion and more intermarriage and that’s the recipe for peace. Everyone wins. And that is historically true. Just for people that want to disagree. These groups are not special in that regard though they currently think so.

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Israelis have been brainwashed since childhood to think everyone hates them and they must be even more hateful and violent to ''defend'' themselves

If all you have is a hammer everything becomes a nail and if you feel some sudo religious righteousness stemming from generations of hate and dehumanizing people you don't think about whether to use the hammer.

In this case the hammer is one bought by the US and Europe spending Billions for decades now to weaponizing Israels hate

10 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Also the fact remains that Israel with the help of the west ( and in the best interest of the west) stole the land from people that have been living there for countless generations, their bullshit claims to it via religion and some cooked up (and highly disputed) historic ''facts'' doesn't change that.

So yeah, talking about Israel as a (very sick) society, you have to take into account where it comes from and what kind of future this would have for the ''oh lets just all make peace''

10 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For one side it is about hateful greed, for the other it is survival when it comes to civilians
