I’m guessing it dug a den in the yard.

This is utter bullshit. A tortoise that size needs to eat a lot, needs UV light, and leaves loads of shit all over the place. There's absolutely no fucking way this happened.

A turtle lives around my house. Sometimes I see it at the front. Sometimes at the back. Sometimes there's a trail in the morning dew that may have been it. Sometimes I don't know what could have left THAT trail.

Found it alive, right?!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Of course it had been dead since 1982 as well

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Someone posted the article - it was alive

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I see that. I was making a joke, but I should have done a better job of it

I think sometimes we forget, animals are always there. Watching. Waiting. Plotting.

And speaking of unexpected resurgences...

Lost two Anole Lizards when we were kids. Saw them running around the garden like two year later, they were fat and happy.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes, gardens are a natural habitat of anoles.

Sounds like something a Ninja Turtle would do (admittedly, one that's not a Teenager anymore)

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There may or may not be a tortoise under my mom's back deck. My nephew "lost" his outside 10+ years ago. It was never seen again, but we're fairly certain it's still back there

Poor raccoon who goes looking for a nice place to live. 'Yo what the fuck they've got armored guards at this pad!'

You can always tell a Milford man.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hoarders? I mean, how else would there be enough food to survive on the floor of a home.

3 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Dude did have a habbit if collecting stuff and putting it in the room the turtle was found in, but they think it ate termites

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plant people most likely

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

A constant influx of spiders? My house has that feature, anyways.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hibernation, but also yeah, hoarding

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

According to Steven Spielberg’s mother, he had a lizard in a cage in his bedroom. The lizard somehow escaped from the cage and was found in Spielberg’s room, still alive, three years later.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It survived on crumbs and the pure hatred of getting revenge someday.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At least they didn't find it living in the attic, now mutated into a humanoid teenager who's been secretly studying martial arts...wait nevermind that'd be cool.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How long has it been since they cleaned the house?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What the fuck has it been eating.... oh wait. House hasn't been cleaned since 82'..... Good gawd, y'all.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's portuguese you idiot

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 19

No one knows the difference.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Well. Thank you for the correction I suppose, I don’t speak either and I set the translator to Spanish and did t notice it detected Portuguese instead. I hope you don’t respond to every human error you encounter with that level of rudeness. Have a great weekend.

I had a chameleon live in my room for a year. Got him when he was a little baby. Fell asleep with it on my lap. Woke up and he was gone. When we moved house. Cleaning out my room. Found him in my closet. He was huge. Then it occurred to me why I never had and flies or other bugs in my room. Little dude was eating them. I released him into the wild.

3 years ago | Likes 112 Dislikes 11

that better have been a wild chameleon you caught then,

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ok, ya it was from your other comments. was filled with a righteous fury for a moment there thinking about florda's python problem and other such invasive species. glad i stopped and considered the possibility that chameleons are local

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

bro where was he pooping

3 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 0

As long as you didn’t live anywhere in Minnesota

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Irresponsible if you don’t live where that species of chameleon is naturally present

3 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 9

No shit

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They lived in the trees in my backyard. I’d pick them up along the road on the way to school and back home. They are native to where I lived. At anytime I could go into my backyard and pick up 30+ chameleons and have a party if I wanted to.

3 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 1

CHAMELEON PARTY!!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fair play then

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is it possible a different chameleon got in?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That sounds like it would be a blast

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Tbh, one individual of an animal of this size is whatever, especially if its a male, no chance of ever having offspring

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Not no chance, and ever greater chance because it’s a reptile. Parthenogenesis is a thing.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but not in all species, and even then parthenogenesis only occurs in females, so if a male is released, it would have to be not only capable of sex reversal, but then also give birth through parthenogenesis. The odds are astronomical. In a quick google search, i couldnt find any example of both things occurring to the same animal

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow. Even if this is a few years old, that's a long while. I had one that escaped from his "tank" when I was out. Found him several years later. I thought he was dead but he was actually just hibernating. Took a few days to revive him and he lived for a number of healthy years after that.

3 years ago | Likes 398 Dislikes 1

Dude same. Ours was hiding in the backyard for 6-7 years. Obviously not hibernating the entire time, but it was wild finding them after all that time.

My mom lost her turtle when she was a child. Found it several days later having burrowed through a loaf of bread.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

They don’t say he was alive however…

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Friend of mine lost a Russian tortoise in highschool. It just walked past me one day 5 years later while I was watering some plants while high as shit. Didn't know it was his until I told him the story a couple years later. it was also one of the weirdest things I'd seen while high as shit. I was so fucking confused by that.

3 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 1

My sister and I once had a turtle escape from the back porch. In the city. And then my friend shows up and was like "Hey, I found this turtle walking down the sidewalk." He didn't even know it was our turtle. We gave it to my mom who had a huge backyard and a real pond after that.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Wait, you didn’t think to ask him to check if it was his?

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

"Didn't know it was his until I told him the story a couple years later."

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Note sir, he was high as shit

3 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 1

18 year old high hits different. I just saw a fuckin dinosaur in my yard. I don't know man!

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I never knew he lost it! Him and his family had such an obscene amount of fucking torti(?) I had no idea. Friend is a strong word. More like a strange dude that happened to live near me in the middle of nowhere that I grew up. If it helps he's still weird as shit? Tortoise is probably still doing great. I took it inside and was stoked until it laid a human sized shit. I was over it pretty quick. I was also 18 YO stoned. Hits different

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

So did you keep it or let it Go on its way?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Let it cruise on. It was clearly doing fine on its own lol. I also had no idea what it was at the time. I thought I'd somehow missed that we had big ass tortoises where I lived. I wasn't the brightest 18 year old stoner.
