Or instead of male/woman sports, we move further into the 21st century and create brackets based on stats that matter to a given sport. Similar to what boxing has been doing for quite a while, weight classes. Except we don't just stop at weight class but use more stats because we can. It would provide a more competitive match up for all those sports enthusiasts out there.
That seems problematic in professional sports - take the NFL - there are bunch of RBs that are under 5'9" and 200LB and a bunch of linebackers that are over 6'5" and 350 LBs.
Keep in mind, the way we measure would be different for each sport. Team based sports would likely have measurements for specific positions, not a blanket measurement for all team members. If it makes more sense to have a scale for RBs and a different scale for linebackers, then that's the route that sport would take.
Doesn't box still differentiate between male and female? You have the lightweight and heavyweight categories but those are still divided between by gender, no ?
Yes. That's why I said similar. We have the ability to take more measurements like hormones, testosterone levels, height, etc. We could start using those to more accurately detail a player as oppose to male/female.
I don't think people are ever going to go that in-depth for sports. Imagine the time it would take and every time you would have to measure again in case things have changed since last time. Also, that would create so many categories that you probably will have categories with not enough people in it. I don't think what you propose is a sane way to do this.

The only sports I watch regularly are my kids soccer matches.

Some people worry WAY too much about the genitalia of others.
FetaForMoses
Why care about other peoples genitalia. I have my hands full with my own genitalia.
