So I joined secret Santa and got my match. Few days after the matches went out I had some things in my life went sideways colossally... anyways I shipped of my secret Santa gift from direct from the warehouse (it was a toy for a pet) and messaged my secret Santa. I got this message after it was delivered. I personally thought it was about the fact someone had actually given you something. I don’t know, I just feel really disappointed in the experience. Merry Christmas however. I just had to rant. Edit: okay wow most viral with my first post this is weird!! I’ve been a lurker for ages aha One thing I want to say is that thank you for all the support, I bear my SS no Ill will, I ask that you just do something nice for someone in the holiday period!!! Merry Christmas

They wrote “thank you” wrong.

What a grinch.. I found most of the community here is pretty supportive. But like anything there’s always a few that have to ruin it

8 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 4

To feel better about themselves. Try not to take it too personally and keep being you.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I agree with keeping it anon too. Sending a gift can be fun in itself, but totally sucks when someone deems it unworthy. Chin up, op.

Thanks heaps

Ahahaha ????

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

People, what a bunch of bastards.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

This is awful, I don't participate in this yearly festive gift giving. I feel that it's more that this person took time and thought about a

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 1

Gift for the other and that it's sad that they took the time to be rude an unappreciative. It's the time and thought that counts, rude cunt

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The ungrateful fuck!

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 2

How DARE you not buy her a pony, ya bumb.

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 3

Ahahahahaha ???????? yeah I know sorry!!!

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

“Other people got XBoxes! Why not me?!” - Asshole giftee, probably.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think it’s down right rude. Some times shit happens. “I’d prefer something thoughtful” op bought your dog a gift! That IS thoughtful 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 242 Dislikes 11

That's what I'm saying! Yay another toy for my dog!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Considering how much most people love their pets.

8 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 3

Exactly and as long as the recipient didn't have pictures of the toys uploaded or stated that they have a ton, how are you supposed to know?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I feel bad that the dog has an owner like that.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

Yeah, if they wanted something that wasn't a generic dog gift, they should have never mentioned they owned a dog.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The pet won't care if it has more than one of a toy, it's going to be happy that it has toys to play with. Sorry your SS was ungrateful, OP

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

Don’t let that be your only experience.most people are incredible.feel bad for them for being that petty and move on. I would have loved it

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

"I'm sorry your dog has more than I do. Merry fucking Christmas."

8 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 5

@OP - everyone's at a different point in their lives, and everything is relative. This person was EXTREMELY immature in projecting their>

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

expectations of their own life onto yours. What you sent was directed with Christmas spirit and cheer; this was the real gift, and sadly>

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

it was not received. You did everything on your side correctly; ranting and calling-out is very good, because the fault lies with the>

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

recipient entirely in this case. Merry Christmas @OP, and hopefully things go un-sideways in the new year. :D

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Thank you so much you too

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Sorry for you OP :( It seems there are varied opinions in the community on how SS works and thus, different expectations. 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I think it's the thought what counts, but still got critic by community on not using "personal touch" when told I used Amazon. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Thanks for all the kind words, I’m gonna be an upvote fairy to spread the xmas cheer me thinks ????

8 years ago | Likes 185 Dislikes 14

Truly the gift that keeps on giving

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Just FYI if you had sent me a ball for my dogs, I would have been thankful and delighted. This person is AWFUL and rude and I am so sorry.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

the sentiment is in a stranger giving you a gift. they missed the point.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Someone's a bit of a Scrooge.

or feeling very entitled.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thought at first it was a tale about a girlfriend and an unwelcome dildo.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Haven't heard any of that yet.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Strong battery game dude. Very satisfying.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I was waiting for someone to say that actually ahahaha you’ve made my night!!!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You went out on a limb and got something you thought they would like, you rock! That is all that matters

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Screw that ungrateful son of a bitch. Just fucking be happy they got something and didnt get let down!

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Oh fuck I've seen the box opening post for this. This was one of the earlier posts, it was done on a throwaway and everyone was chewing 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 4

I was going to say I swear I saw the other post of this, but wasn’t 100% it was the same!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

them out. They were complaining it wasn't wrapped even though the store doesn't offer that. The giftee appeared 2 have a change of heart tho

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

A yellow chewing rope?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Made from bananas, yes.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Hm, I saw one post with a dog and a yellow chewing toy but that was with a second gift so probably not the same

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nah, you would remember this one. It had a long ass receipt.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are you able to link me to the post?

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Sadly they deleted it. It was at about -5 pts the last time I looked at it. Posted by JerkSanta six days ago.

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Relevant username, I suppose.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Okay, thanks for that :)

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

They mentioned that they sent an email to MartynMage to complain as well. However, I'm sure Martyn isn't a scumlord & gets the sitch.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Giftee saw other people getting expensive/nice stuff and was disappointed because giftee's entitled ass didn't get something shiny too...

8 years ago | Likes 212 Dislikes 12

this

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

^^ this. Spot on.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My first year (2014 I think), I got a box loaded with little things and I could not have been happier. Some people just suck.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

In my first year I "only" got a hat. But I was super happy about it, because it was an awesome hat and I love it!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I did it for the first time last year and got a box full of snacks from the US that are unavailable in Germany. :D

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It was one of the first posts actually. OP bought the gift from MyPetWarehouse. Post was up 12/6 by JerkSanta asking if they were "unfair"

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 2

@RogueDarkJedi could you link the poSt?

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I suspect it was a throwaway account that has since been deleted. Couldn’t find anything.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

@JerkSanta is the account, the post got deleted.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can report the person to @MartynMage

8 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 6

for what? He is entitled to his opinion. he didn't curse or insult, he can be diappointed if he wants to.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 61

I can think you're an idiot, that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it, but calling you an idiot is needlessly hurtful and shouldn't be done.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@op do it man, just because they are part of the community doesn't mean they should be part of this. Sign up next year, like others I would>

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 3

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

This is beyond infuriating.

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

Like really, I don't host this so people can bitch about gifts. There's no price limits for a reason. It's about sending what you like 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

to send, and having fun with it. This message goes against every reason that I host this exchange wholeheartedly. Very frustrated. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

"she has a lot of these toys" was not needed. I can forgive the rest kind of but that was cold.

8 years ago | Likes 1359 Dislikes 19

Yeah that was totally uncalled for... so ungrateful.

8 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 4

Depends on what it is. For example, as a cat owner, if someone got me one of those $2 fake mice with a receipt and no card or anything (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 7

I would be slightly miffed, if I'm being honest with myself, and my cat DOES have many. It's hard because we only know one side here.

8 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 6

It wouldn't have hurt them to say, "Thanks for the gift, I appreciate times are tough & I hope you have a good Christmas & things improve."

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Oddly enough, "she has a lot of these" could even been nice, if the rest of the mail had been way different.

8 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 1

"She has a ton of these and she loves them all so much! Thank you!" Bam, from rude to grateful.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"im upset you didn't get me a better present, anonymous stranger with no obligation or connection to me whatsoever"

8 years ago | Likes 632 Dislikes 9

To be fair everyone who joins have an obligation, but I'm with ya about the dick move part

8 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 10

yea i thought of putting "no obligation apart from a voluntary commitment" but i figured ppl would get it

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

There's no price minimum or maximum. They should be grateful that OP got a gift at all... some people end up with nothing :(

8 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 3

I'm happy getting a GIFT from an anonymous stranger who at least took the time to read my profile and GIFT something related to my life.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Aye! Got a very belated SS at work, worth the wait because this person actually gifted me things I would use/ enjoy myself.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

"She has a lot of these toys" sounds like @OP did put thought into it but couldn't know how big the collection was already...

8 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 2

Kinda depends on what it is. My pup has a lot of tennis balls, and my cat has a lot of fake mice. Neither make particularly good gifts, imo.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 10

But can you ever have too many dildos?

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

Never.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And it was totally unnecessary for the recipient to expound on that in any way.

8 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

It just pisses me off so much how ungrateful people can be...

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

that's a problem with any stranger gift exchange. Somebody says they like something, chances are they already have stuff associated with it

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You might get unlucky

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This is rough. On one hand...having any expectations at all is never the best mental route to take, in an online gift exchange. (1)

8 years ago | Likes 1158 Dislikes 7

I’m always prepared to receive nothing. You don’t want to get the best present, you want to give the best present

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Heck, after not getting anything last year I am just excited and morbidly curious to see what happens this year. OP's match, not cool.

8 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 1

I live overseas and my family is stateside. I know I've shipped a few things from a biz and receipts were included accidentally etc. Life

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

I always expect shit to go sideways, that way if it goes well I'm pleasantly surprised. If not, I knew it was coming.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

After seeing a lot of posts on here, I have no expectations. I may get something, I may not, but I took a chance. This person was kinda rude

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

I just expect not to get anything and if anything does come I'll be super thankful :\

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The only expectation I have is to get anything at all. Thought that counts

8 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 0

My Clashof Clans name is Mormonator, how ironic

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Agree it is about the thought.although i think a good approach is to try not expect anything at all. That way you can't get disappointed.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah but you know a lot of people do this assuming they're going to get a huge shipment of autographed gear from Snoop.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I have a slim hope for something from Adam Savage :D

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Friend of mine has been matched with a Sponser. They tell you ahead so you can accept or refuse it, as it has to be reported on taxes.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We still don't know which sponser... Very excited to find out!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I believe this response is a bit on the rude side, because you are right, it is about connecting and giving, not the gift, itself. (2)

8 years ago | Likes 780 Dislikes 5

some people see these super gracious and extravagant gifts like the guy who got a guitar and just expect the same thing from everyone

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

And being gracious about receiving it, too. Some folks just weren't taught any manners.

8 years ago | Likes 293 Dislikes 1

My thoughts exactly! So rude

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Perhaps the fabulous gifts some people receive and post create an expectation that everybody will receive similar. Some ppl get carried away

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

I've considered doing SS the last couple years, but as a grad student I don't have the time or $ to go all out like the posted ones, which..

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

has deterred me from participating, which kinda sucks. I wish imgur had like 2 levels of SS, a regular & an extra. Then you'd know what you

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

were signing up for and could match with someone else on the same level. Regardless, this person was rude to @op & should appreciate a gift

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

However, though I sympathize with the situation, you maybe should have doodled or written a short note, as a personal touch. (3)

8 years ago | Likes 203 Dislikes 21

But no matter what, you participated, even during a hard time...and that should be appreciated. Don't let this ruin your holiday.

8 years ago | Likes 158 Dislikes 3

A lot of people send directly from Amazon or whichever online vendor they shop from.

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

I have just realised I replied to the wrong comment here. Sorry.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I actually didn’t see the gift at all, it was sent directly from a warehouse

8 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 1

So then there really was no thought at all. If you don't even know what you got them how can you defend it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 22

Yeah, I totally get that. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Try to have a great Christmas.

8 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 4

Tbh dog toys are great. I'm concerned about getting some because we had to take away the toys my dogs had for being jerks. And I worry it1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I didn't do SS this year because I got such an amazing gift last year. I couldn't beat my expectations back down so I didn't participate.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

What did you get?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A painting of a tardis done by my secret Santa. It was about the coolest thing she could have done for me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OOOOOOO home made niftiness! Very nice :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it was absolutely perfect!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What a dick move of them

8 years ago | Likes 846 Dislikes 23

Unless OP sent a dollar store toy

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Gratitude in all things big or small. Why shame someone for a harmless gesture?

8 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 3

Because people feel entitled.

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

I called them a Cunt in my head. Makes me nervous about my gift I sent.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Accurate

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

You included the receipt so they can return it. Maybe they were expecting something hand crafted.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

Expectation is they key word here, the gift exchange is what matters, this way it sounds like they would rather not recieve anything.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Save the address and send coal.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

just like the other day where there were several negative Comments on a self made SS Gift. Greedy idiots. Just dont give a damn.

8 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 2

Ugh, that OP was an asshole, too. So ungrateful.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

some people are just greedy

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Was that the string art? People were brutal about that.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

yeah, I'd like to know the gifter, 'cause if its selfmade I want commission one for myself :D

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Just write back “get fucked”. They’ve completely missed the concept of secret santa and bad gift giving. What did they want, a new iPhone?

8 years ago | Likes 742 Dislikes 25

As they've stated they would have preferred a card, send a card filled with glitter with "get fucked" written inside,

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I can't upvote this enough.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

you are right. One does this stuff for fun. Not for material gain. What a doushebag

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

All the front page SS reveals set up an expectation of an awesome and thoughtful gift. Even though obv they are a small %

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Then tell us and we'll do it for you. This kind of response from a recipient is really unnecessary. What a douchecanoe.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

How about 2 seconds of thought? Is that too much to ask. OP has no class

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 106

Dude, the real lack of class here is someone actually complaining about a gift they received...not @OP

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hey. When shit goes sideways in your life, you just do what you can. In the holiday spirit, we're all grateful...

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

How can you say op has no class? Op came on hard times and still sent a gift. Thats more than i can say about the douchetools who 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Participate just to get a gift but not send one. We have no idea what op spent on this gift. Recip is a dick for this response.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

How was OP to know that animal had those toys already? OP got something for their SS to play with their pet. If I still had my dog, that 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

would be one of the best moments of the holiday. That Giftee is being selfish. You participate in SS to gift someone. Getting gifted is 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

something you be grateful for. OP did what they could in a rough situation. Your comment could use 2 seconds of thought.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I want their username so I can tell them to piss off (not really). Good on @op for participating even under their shitty circumstances.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

Probably not necessary since this made FP lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you but I’m not naming names.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I think this person was expecting a plethora of gifts. I think this had to of been a teenager who doesn't understand secret santa.

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 6

Depends on what OP gave. If (s)he only gave a $2 fake mouse, no card, no note, no anything? Honestly, that would feel cheap.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 10

Sadly, the over the top front page SSs are probably giving people absurdly unrealistic expectations. u.u

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Nah I’m not going to be rude, not my thing aha

8 years ago | Likes 249 Dislikes 7

So instead you’ll make a post about it so others can hurl insults at this person? Wow

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

Tell me where this person's name is.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

good on you. be the better man, disc0balls.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If I had a dog with a bunch of toys and got another toy, I would be super excited. I'd think it was thoughtful to think of my dog!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Your SS accidentally misspelled "thank you so much for the gift!"

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

You make me want to get over my secretive nature and do it next year.

8 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 0

Me too

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give me their name and I'll be rude to them. Totally my thing

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

No. Not happening sorry

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Your life situation doesn't matter. You gave someone a thoughtful gift. This guy sucks. I would have been thrilled to get anything from you!

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Want me to send out my army of winter cats? Their claws are never clipped.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Give us her username

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Hey it honestly sounds like the person is a kid. What a dicky little kid.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

I can almost guarantee it is not.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Do you know who it is?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

No, something with a thought behind it.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 63

It's a stranger online. He shipped from a warehouse so he wouldn't have to ship something twice. Not everything is going to be handmade!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What kind of thought?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Anything... Not just. You have a cat. Here's a cat toy. How about reading comments, looking at favorites, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Anything, but not just ... :) So you're picky when someone actually tries to do something nice to you? wow, such DB.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP is not Amazon, when life takes a dump on you you know of have to roll with it.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That's why you don't include your name. Just be anonymous.

8 years ago | Likes 501 Dislikes 9

that is sort of why the word secret is right in the name

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When sending from Aust you have to declare your deets so can't remain anon. I hope my SS doesn't react like OP's SS did. What a grumpy bum!

8 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 2

I didn't sign up for Secret Santa, but someone that left their name / address on their FP post has been sent a box of bananas and a watch.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

The most secret of Santas. :D

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Then move, jeez its just that easy.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 28

"move, it's easy" no

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

Thats the joke

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

lol I'll move to Antarctica, surely the post will be easier there

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

There we go! Just make sure to secure your chains so you dont fall off the earth!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1
