Sad as it is, I mean... he was 95. He left such an extensive and rich body of work. They don't make them like that anymore. Rest in Power, King.

Duvall: Lets get out of here before i get the epazutics myself.
Doctor: I beg your pardon, do you mean epi-zo-otics, an animal epidemic?
Duvall: No sir, I mean epazutics.

Death is a real Cunt you know that? It’s like we’re getting 2016 all over again.

Someone form protective circles around Patrick Stewart and Mark Hamill.

He blew me away in The Apostle. I know he got an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for that role but it's not a film that's mentioned much.

I like his role in Secondhand Lions, among many others.

When will the right one get to go? From Boo Radley to Frank Burns, to Tom Hagen, to Bill Kilgore, to the sniper Cash, what a range. I knew he retired, but I didn't realize how old he was when he did. Never seemed to age. What a legend.

My fave: Days of Thunder, he was a perfect crew chief

Damn I read that wrong and thought *he* was a racist cunt and about to be really sad and then I ended up being sad anyway but at least for the right reason.

"I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY!"

In a long and illustrious film career, one can make the argument that his best performance was on television. Augustus McCrae in Lonesome Dove is by far my favorite role of his.

Apparently it was also his favorite role.

My favorite book and top five favorite "movies."

I've read every piece of fiction He's ever written and it's probably my favorite as well. The other 3 books in The Lonesome Dove series are just as good in my opinion and I see it as one work. Unfortunately, the tv adaptations don't follow this lead and all besides Lonesome Dove are not very good.

I mean 95 is a good long run.

As my old partner would aay...he won the race

Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

I can't help but think the same. My sympathies to those pained by his passing, of course, but a sterling career spanning over half a century followed by the inevitable at a ripe old age scarcely moves me to tears.

I just hope he went with his boots on.

Secondhand Lions if anyone cares. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327137/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk

Everyone should care. Don't worry... if you don't care, it's only because you don't know. I love the whole movie. A young Haley Joel Osment costars.
