No. 2x4.

Now put boards all the way round, make them out of metal and you'll have a tank.

If its stupid and it works, it aint stupid.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

need more planks

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Works every time! Never seen it filmed before though. They left out all the colorful words!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chains also work well.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Genius! +1

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did this in the oil patch a couple times when the crew truck got stuck. My old consultant (like 80 years old) showed me. Smart guy.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There is a product on the market that does this using big blocks of rubber

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

or max trax

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not stupid if it works.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Needs more wood

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If only he had some sort of interlinked metal O's that he could wrap around his tyre.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s not stupid if it works!!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Adding on to yours, Military vehicles carry beams that they use for this exact purpose. So while it's crude it's quite functional.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ever notice how Russian tanks always carry a log? They use it for the same purpose, only with tracks.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Why does clicking comment pictures no longer enlarge them? It just opens up/closes the replies.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So that's not a spare barrel for the tank turret?! The more you know!!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Carrying a log actually came with the advent of the tank. The british used them to cross the trenches.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Fascinating.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ugh. I was stuck in a ditch waiting on tow for 4 hours yesterday. I tried branches but they were too dryrotted. I'm putting 2x4s in van now.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They work better if you put them under your wheels to get some traction, and deflate your tires.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My advice is get an inflator and some sand ladders, that will get you out most of the time.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea i didn't have my usual winter ditch gear packed yet. Grew up on a mountain in the NE so I'm no stranger to getting stuck.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Source: I live in a mud pit.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't work, tire would get bored and the board would get tired.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Don't you mean it "woodn't" work?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Got a snort out of me.

Dad? Is that you?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Putting a plank of wood on a tire won't make your truck grown a transfer case and drive all the wheels

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

thats true, it just means there is no movement while the wheel spins the timber back round to the start. will still work but slower.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I didnt say it wasn't useful, the title just suggested that this is 4 wheel drive somehow

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i think its a pun on 2x4 being a timber size.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha if that's true, way over my head

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm here to apply for the job of comment proof reader!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

actually, rewatching, i don't think they are in 4wd, theres a point where the wheel slips and the vehicle doesn't move

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it doesn't matter how many wheels you send power to if they've all got worn out shitty all-seasons on them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sure, horses for courses.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I pulled onto grass last week, after rain. Got stuck, waited for earth to dry and got sand. Next time, THIS.

8 years ago | Likes 156 Dislikes 1

Have a truck still stuck in the yard after a week of rain and no sun to dry it out

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why are you people parking in places like this? Cars don't belong in yards.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol "onto grass"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Doesn't work if you are stuck, I tried, Deflate your tires and put the plank under your wheels, use it to get some grip.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Use your floor mats for traction...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Don't, only thing you will do is get muddy floormats. IF you can get out with floor mats you are not stuck.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Deflate tires to maybe 5-10psi, put rocks and planks under them to get some traction.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mine have rubber nubs that actually work well and have pulled me out, so... yes but it depends on mat and situation.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or you could not park there.

8 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 3

But how else am I going to piss off my neighbor if I’m not drunk parking on his lawn?

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 2

Would've been funny, But the idea that you think drunk driving is funny.. nah

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

It's a joke my dude. I dont think he actually believes drunk driving is a good thing.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Yeah I don’t. But a lot of people can’t get a joke now days cuz they are easily offended

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

There are other ways. Comment on his hair every time you see him. Then one day just stop.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Tried this. Broke the strap and the wood.

8 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 2

Finesse is key

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You weren't supposed to take it on the highway, ya dingus.

8 years ago | Likes 164 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

That is not just a strap. It's towing material.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that's what she said?

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 2

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

One could say you broke your strap on

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dented your fender too prob

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Like your head....sadly, or probably made improvements. You're family will let you out on the porch now. Must be thrilling.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

luckily, no. stopped before that happened. did find out that a section of chain link fence works quite well for getting unstuck tho.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it would work better with more than one board

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What? Like a tank track?!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! Well really I mean like maybe 3 or 4 spaced slightly apart? You have 365° and like 300° is tire slip.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2x4

8 years ago | Likes 713 Dislikes 4

Take your 1+ and go wood you

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it cool if I ride with you to the top comment?

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

2 wheels, each with 2x4= 2x2x4= 4x4

2x4x4

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 0

if it had a 2x4 on all 4 tires and it is a 4x4 then is it a ((2x4)x4)(4x4) or a (2x4)(4x4)?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Why is that such a smart idea why have I never done this? Plus one.

8 years ago | Likes 911 Dislikes 8

Clearly, you trusted zebras too much

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 7

Tactical log

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Yep, that is carried for exactly the same purpose -- selfextraction from deep dirt.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tho not a smart idea to stand so close to the wheel. That plank might hit you in the face and laugh!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's similar to a technique that Russian tankers use. They keep a log with the tank, and if need be, tie it to the treads in bad terrain.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

you may not be smart?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 14

There's a more vehicle friendly way. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/trac-grabber-truck-traction-aid-0301110p.html#srp

8 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

So, a shorter 2x4?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Decent reviews. I can see myself needing these ice fishing like the reviewers did

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I can just see people doing this with the 2x4 way to far into the truck and going "I wonder what happened to my wheel well"

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have no idea what’s the purpose ... I came to the comments to u fees tans I’m still lost ... I mean my friend. Here is lost .... help her

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Came to comments to understand * stupid typos

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You be stuck in the mud, huh?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's semi dangerous to you and the vehicle, even if done correctly. I would try floor mats first.

8 years ago | Likes 249 Dislikes 2

I mean it could help with my lawn mower. There is a dip in our yard that gets water and takes 10x as long,to dry after rain.

8 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

Maybe try shovel out some sand to try to get it to drain better

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

I tried floor mats once and it just ended up flinging my floor mat 20 feet away from my car

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Hahahaha

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You guys need to find a better spot to cut meat.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been reading this for about a minute now and I still don't get it. Is this an imgur fuckup?
