After that you can put retro pi on it and use a Bluetooth ps4 controller (if is a raspberry 3)

That's the plan. I made room for a keyboard remote dongle, but otherwise the USB are covered because I plan on using a PS3 gamepad.

Not for basic functions. Recalbox is similar but easier for beginners. You copy some files to a microsd card, then set some settings
