If I get on a plane and see a black pilot I'm going to realize that not only have I not passed the rigorous and ongoing training needed to fly a passenger jet, but I don't even have the eyesight to be put into consideration. But at least, unlike Charlie Kirk, I'm not disqualified because I bullied people until one of them shot me dead.
If I get on a plane and I see a Black pilot, I'm going to be very annoyed because I'll have no idea how the fuck I got to the cockpit instead of my seat way in the back.
I'll breathe a sigh of relief because it means the company isn't run by rhesus monkeys who are trying to figure out how to turn racism into profits like medieval alchemists trying to turn lead into gold.
It is such a frustrating fundamental misunderstanding (sometimes purposefully misunderstood, sometimes fell for a lie) that DEI takes unqualified people and uses them. The unqualified people get weeded out in a much earlier stage. I'll also note that very nearly 100% of people upset at DEI are just fine with people with not experience at all being given high ranking jobs by the president. It makes me somewhat suspect of the sincerity of their beliefs. If only there were another motive (lol).
Or maybe I'll be relieved because a quick glance at the Hall of Fame lists on any number of professional sports indicates that black people have amazing hand-eye coordination, twitch reflexes, etc.
Err, I mean being able to see the pilots. For all I know they are dogs in trenchcoats. Maybe thats why they close the door, so the dogs can take off the coats and be more comfortable.
The worst flight I was ever on had a black person in the cockpit, though he wasn't the pilot. Just a navigator, I think. Also he looked a lot like a famous NBA player. Anyway, that's why I never order fish on an airplane.
The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

I don't think I've ever actually been able to catch a look at the pilots. For all I know they might've been dogs in trench coats.

In which case they would've had to overcome even more obstacles.
