Islamic Golden Age had major advances in medicine, astronomy, math, philosophy, etc under "Sharia" rule. Homosexuality being banned is true, but historical enforcement varied. Sharia law has unequal rights for women in some areas, but also granted women the legal right to own property, inherit, divorce, run businesses, etc that exceeded medieval Europe.
