He's the GOAT, don't care about what Patriot fans have to say otherwise.

I've never seen Joe Montana's wife before this but I'd call home too

Right? She’s still super cute!

"Babe, I just called to tell you I saw John Candy!"

Joe was also one of the toughest guys I've ever seen playing quarterback. There was one hit he took while he was playing the Giants and I think it was LT hit him. Normally, that's painful enough. But bear in mind, this is old school Meadowlands on a cold rainy day. Montana gets popped and he skids on his backside a good 10 feet, at least.

I was rooting against Roethlisberger whenever I saw him play, but some of the hits I saw him take without a problem were impressive. One in particular that sticks with me was when he was down to about a 10 degree angle from the turf and fired off a pass for a first down.

The job I work at, you dial 9-1- and then the number to dial out. The 1 is the international code for calls in the US, so if you are dialing a 1-800 number, you don't need to dial a second 1. However, we have had loads of people dial 9-1-1 by mistake while trying to dial 1-800 numbers. It's really silly. XD

Doesn't he have a place in the leaning tower of San Francisco?

I love this!

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also choose Joe Montana's wife.

Joe Montana is the greatest QB of all time; those who doubt me suck cock by choice!

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Which….. is bad??

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sucking cock not by choice seems substantially worse than your scenario

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

she probably didn't believe it at first, like "hello, who's this?" "it's joe" "joe who?"

But I'm really here to see which knee you hate so much it became your username. That's the real story here.

In the 90s, I worked at a place that had a phone system from Tadiran. If you wanted to use the company-wide PA system you could dial some extension like 333 and speak over the ceiling speakers. One day, I'm in Target and I notice the phone is similar to the Tadiran phones we had so I picked up the phone and dialed 333 and sure enough, I was put through to the PA system in the Target. Later I called that Target and asked for ext 333 and was put through to their PA system. :) Fun times.

I learned a bit about phone phreaking from the 2600 Club that would meet in the bottom floor of the Food Level in the Pacific Center Mall about a block from my work. They still meet there according to 2600 magazine

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think we're gonna need to know what you took that opportunity to say over the PA system!

11 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We had a secretary that accidentally transfered a call on hold to our building PA. Kept hearing the person hum and sing a little for about 20 minutes till they hung up

11 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Epic!

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Just wait until Gen Z hears that you used to make phone calls for free at every corner if you could replicate a certain whistle sound

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can still do something similar on our modern phone system. The paging horns have to have a generic user and extension to add to a ring group and they are two way, so technically if you talked someone into it you could have a conversation with some very confused dock workers. Some of them have figured this out and mess with each other.

11 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Airport - guy I was working with got arrested and was going to jail. As soon as work found out, he knew he would be fired. Knowing his days were limited he had a freedom that very few people could ever enjoy. He didn’t give a rats ass anymore.

So a passenger who was a total pain in the ass, started to yell at him about weather delay or something that it was out of the gate agent control

In every reservation that was purchased over the phone back then was the credit card information.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This gentleman had pissed him off so he used his credit card to call a phone sex number. He told the lady he was transferring her over the office intercom as a joke. And just to go for it.

For the next 45 minutes or more, she did just that and we watched in amusement as elderly passengers, housewives, and business. Travelers hurt her through her best.

They had to disable the entire paging system for the airport to disconnect. It was hilarious.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Kind of a downside to some of the older paging. You send a call in and they can literally stay open forever. I hard set a 5 minute timeout on the new IP stuff. Otherwise if the network blips they can get stuck ringing or on a call because they never got the command to stop. It's a pretty dumb problem, honestly.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll have to find the story, but a store used an automatic callback system, where you dial the callback, enter your number, then enter the extension to connect to, and it would place a call to your number when the person picked up. Good for avoiding long distance charges when calling in to a meeting. So of course, someone called store 2 from store 1, entered both stores' PA numbers, and locked everyone out of both until the whole system was reset.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you announce the Blue Light Special?

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a job where people moved around the building a lot so if you needed someone and they weren't at their normal extension, you'd dial 999 to use the building-wide PA: "Joe Smith, call extension 123 please. Joe Smith, extension 123. [click].* And about 3-4 times a year, someone would page "Joe Smith, call extension 999 please. Joe Smith, extension 999. [click]." And inevitably, 30 seconds later, the PA would go, "Hello? Hello? .. Oh ugh! [click]"

Fuck Joe Montana. He's donated millions to Republican candidates. He's part of the 1%, and part of the reason we now have a fascist in the White House.

11 months ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 29

Have a source for this, because I couldn't find anything saying he "donated millions", or donated anything at all, just two copypasta articles a year apart that go a looong way to intimate he leans republican from two years old quotes about the Colin Kaepernick situation https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/nfl_legend_joe_montanas_politica">42053594">https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/nfl_legend_joe_montanas_political_stance_stands_firm/s1_17068_42053594 https://thespun.com/nfl/nfl-legend-joe-montana-revealed-where-he-stood-politically

Why does everything have to be about politics?

11 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 72

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Normally it doesn't. But right now the USA is inches away from a fascist military dictatorship. IT FUCKING MATTERS RIGHT NOW.

But if you live in the US, and you want to stick your head in the sand, go for it. I'm sure that'll work out really well for you.

11 months ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 8

Because too many people in power think that not everyone should get to live.

11 months ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 6

Because actual politics is whether or not we should put a 2% tax on the ferry to pay for some firefighter incentive or whatever. Whether or not women have control of their body is not a political question. It's a human right infraction, separation of church and state has been eroded to the point of irreversible control.

Russian bot response. They are all over this trying to create rage.

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Because almost everything IS politics. Welcome to society.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

Well, right now people in elected office are calling for the deaths of some of my friends, and that tends to take up a lot of space in my mind. And some of my friends could literally be sent to another country's violent, inhumane jail for the crime of their skin color. And that takes up a lot of space in my mind. So yeah, right now it seems pretty much everything is about politics.

11 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Everything IS about politics. It influences every aspect of our lives, and ignoring that is a large part of why we're at this point.

I met Joe Montana and Tony Rice at a bar across the street from the Morgan Stanley building in San Francisco. The two just signed with a private equity group but did not understand what it meant. They heard me and a colleague discussing venture capital and asked if they could buy us a round while we explain private equity. Drinks with two GOATS. Good times.

11 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Were they horrified once you told them that you basically just liquidate assets and ruin people's lives again and again until nothing is left?

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Jerry Rice?

No, he's obviously talking about Tony Rice, the legendary Bluegrass guitarist most famous in the '80s & '90s.

I just found out last night that the phones at my work have a button called "Look Busy". It calls to a hotline called "Call and Oates" that gives you a menu of a few different Hall and Oates songs to listen to in case you need to look like you're on the phone. Sometimes mundane office shit is fun.

11 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I don't think that's what it's for. It's so people that try to call you get a busy signal or get sent to voice mail. Or, on some phone systems you will see a light for who is busy. This will turn on that light.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it's literally labled in the phone as "Look Busy".

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That may be. But it MIGHT look busy to another caller. Or look busy in Teams, and any other software that reports your availability. I have seen a phone button that said "Show Busy". Not the same, but...

BUT, you are the one using it and know all the details, so if you are sure about what it is, then I'm sure you are right.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the front desk of a hotel, so we don't have Teams, and we're not trying to tie up phone lines to keep people from calling in. It's purely to look like you're on a call in front of a guest.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ah, now it makes MUCH more sense. Cool.

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's the number it calls? I'm either adding this number to my speed dial or recreating on our pbx. We already have a Rick roll line, what are they gonna do fire me?

This video just gave me a little blast of what America used to mean to a British kid in the 1990's. I feel very sad for my cousins right now, it's looking awfully dark.

It seems pretty implausible that there is a single Joe in Montana. I guess if one is Joe and the other is Joseph it could work...
