Ford's new cup-holder design is actually pretty neat!
I mean instead of just one type of drink each for the driver and passenger, you get the space for two each. It may not seem much, but in my experience it may come in super handy in longer drives.
Fabulosaurus
What car is this? I need name
crshar
Now they need to be size adjustable!
SchwiftyRickSanchez
tinydragonfarts
One for my pee cup.
Banquo
Why would you cover burger and fry tray with another cup holder? *Sheesh*
SlapMyScrotum
Lincoln MKS cant handle 2 regular - 16oz - drinks from any fast food joint. American car, cant handle American sized drinks
imtellingyouthetruth
Fat guy...not fat guy....fat guy....not fat guy....
zoolian
except for in my car the left part would be full of junk :/
orangeoxygen
So you and your tagalongs can have some drinks while you wait for the tow truck. Nice.
dohcohv
The Honda fit has 10 cupholders for 5 passengers, you can reach 6 from the driver's seat. I guess they got too many complaints.
ThatFellow
It's still a fucking Ford though, so screw that shit.
gnarphy
My honda has an extra cup holder in front of the a/c vent on the driver side. Keeps my drink cold.
zapsmass
Furd fifteen tousand!

So I know Saab is know for overengineering (at least in safety) but this looks like it would break immediately after driving off the lot.
StrawberryPrincess92
my crown victoria has two in the front console, and then two in the fold out ashtray thing. super convinient
crii
vics are sick. i always upvote panthers.
StrawberryPrincess92
I say my, but it's really my ex's I bought it, but she's actually put more money into it than I have, with repairs and insurance 1/2
StrawberryPrincess92
and since she has a license, and I couldn't afford the insurance on it anyway, I told her she could have it instead of fighting 2/2
crii
i am sad now.
modzona
I have never owed a car with any cup holders. To now i have owed 4 cars.
Davedavedavedavedave
I bet the biggest Slurpee/Fountain pop will fit in the big ones. *SOB*
dadogg88
You can fit a lot of freedom in there.
Midez6
TrickyChlovers
*kicks down door* DID SOMEBODY SAY FREEDOM!
dropyourusername
Not for nothing, Ford is a good company.
everyoneiskungfufighting
Agreed.

I never liked the Explorer, but the latest one looks nice. Same goes for mustangs. And the GT is f'n beautiful with the buttresses.
crii
i think crossovers are silly in general, but the new exploder's exterior design was practically carbon copied from the range rover.
notavirgin912
yea everyone always rags on the reliability but our ford ambulances get driven like sports cars their whole life and make 300,000 miles easy
LeonRoland
My 96 BMW 750iL's cup holder has at least 16 moving parts, is broken, and barely fit anything when it wasn't.
KharnApproves
In the dictionary, next to over-engineered there's a picture of a BMW.
CheekiBreekiOverlord
German design, built by Romanians.
bond100
It's a BMW, that's what happens.
LeonRoland
Rumor has it that BMW resented the distraction that a beverage represented, and installed the cupholders for NA markets begrudgingly.
LeonRoland
Well, for a 20 year old vehicle it runs wonderfully, better than most domestics of that age by a wide margin.
NihilistArbysBannedAccount
Cool, now if they can just fucking fix my brand new Explorer's transmission which broke for the 2nd time tonight that'd be great.
IDontKnowWhatToUseAsAUsername
Mine cracked a head. It's going to that great scrap yard in the sky while I walk everywhere.
bearshavetherighttokeeptheirarms
My focus was so bad I made them switch me cars, and then the new one went, got the part replaced and it's happening again.
EzraFell
The second time? You aren't hauling a trailer in overdrive at 80 mph, are you? Because it's either that or Ford royally fucked up twice.
NihilistArbysBannedAccount
Nope, no hauling with it. However, both times we were climbing a moderate hill when it snapped.
Nick9265
See if your state has a lemon law.
NihilistArbysBannedAccount
It does. The vehicle needs to break two more times for me to invoke it
NihilistArbysBannedAccount
I'm hoping to negotiate a buy-back later today with the regional manager
harleyandjunior
Awesome, no we can both have chasers!
ChokolateLovin
That's the spirit
ererr
Never needed a chaser. Wuss.
ChesterCopperpots
Whisky neat please

It's pretty common to have a larger chaser here
Icanttakenothingserious
It'd go nice with your pie
CrispyLegs
Whats a chaser?
spartan8917
Something to hurry up and drink after a shot of something someone can't handle to dull the burn. Also known as being a wuss.
ProbablyPostsPrettyPictures
Longer, theoretically non-alcoholic drink (say, coke) to follow a shot (say, vodka). I think, in Britain we just mix drinks that taste nice.
LeumisRichardson
Better than my Mazda. They put the cup holders right behind the gearshift. It's a 6 speed manual. Arg.
jayliu1984
That's because you don't have a lot of room on a smaller car. This is a huge ass truck
jthearon
G35, same. Pretty sure that's just every manual sports car. It's the price we pay, and I think we'd rather pay than drive a sedan
ThadSupersperm
I drive a 77 Mercedes. No cup holders, but I use a roll of duct tape and it works perfectly
computerphile
My Audi puts the 12V outlet just behind the right cup holder so any soda (and we're talking 0,5L, not "big gulp") blocks that outlet..
Ohnoaginger
My cup holders are just above the radio, so with stuff in em it blocks it. Y u do dis Sabaru?
tiniweiner
Hey man its better than my 1988 prelude I got no cup holders and its sad

Hate to say it but your problem isn't the cup holder it's the mazda
Matty2072
Nothing a really sharp saw can't fix!
HigherLaws
Same here. Say goodbye to the top cup holder!
AndIThinkToMyselfWhatAWonderfulWorld
Fiat Puntos have the same issue. At least, my 2009 Grande Punto has it
betterjesus
This issue keeps me awake at night

Arrrrrrg matey!
LetMePickMyTeethThenHaveMoreChips2
Is it super rusty yet?
toypaj
Seat Leon 2014, same, have to store water bottle in door pocket, and can only put small coffee cups in the holders behind the gear stick
TheChandrian
I drive a 90 Volvo. No cup holders at all.
SharkoutofWata
Well that's a car right off the prospective list. Cup holders are a must.
winterbourne
That's 'cause it's all rectangles!
MonsterMashGrrrrr
Zoom Zoom? More like Boom Boom...cuz... you're bumping your beverage when you shift...? OK BYEEEEE!!
sweetbananaman
Same here, I'm always smashing a drink when I go into 4th
flyingcat666
There was no such thing as cup holders in my 89 Mazda. I had to squeeze my cup between the seat and e-brake.
TheDeckhand
2000 bmw has the same problem
ilikeimgur2005
Gen coupe. Same.
CraftyCat
I have a '92 Miata. I feel your pain.
LeumisRichardson
Hehe, mine is a 2002. Same pain indeed.
CraftyCat
I love it! Mine is black with a tan convertable top I replaced myself. I'll try to get a decent picture after work tomorrow.
LeumisRichardson
AlexImguram
I used to have a BMW 320si. It had a heated cup holder. It felt like the future had arrived.

Seat Leon 2014, same, have to store water bottle in door pocket, and can only put small coffee cups in the holders behind the gear stick

350z , same.
TheRicM
I read that as 35 oz and thought you were talking about drink size lol
Jarstark
I miss mine:( My 350z, not the cup holder.
OneMoreLagerAndIMightLearnToLikeYa
Fuckin Z's are the most fun I've had driving.
notabrainlet
But hey it's fun as fuck to drive amirite?
Hayatev3
Mr2 sw20 here... I have no cup holders, only my legs. Be glad you have something :P
TemporaryUzername
late 90's civics have holders that are too shallow & wide to hug any cup, and tall cups only go in on an angle, and fall over onto your shoe
pandorafalters
Early '90s Civics have "cup"holders that top out at BARELY fitting a 16 oz energy drink can. Have to tilt it in. Also flimsy as fuck & low.
TemporaryUzername
burning hot coffee onto your throttle control (right foot) is always a great way to start your day.
GuyFromDeathValley
I drive a Ford Puma. the only cupholders are left and right of the backseats..
UltraBooster
At least you bitches have cupholders. 01 bmw 530 has the poorest excuse for cupholders ever created. Its actually insane that its german
pandorafalters
Yeah? At least yours HAS cupholders, unlike my '94 530i.
UltraBooster
Why the hell... Disgraceful
Paramike
Actually, in Germany cup holders are banned because people kept using them to drink beer while driving.
UltraBooster
How the hell do you drink beer with a cupholder
Paramike
https://s3-media1.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/bdmA17vRHu8DSSkGg34s4g/ls.jpg But I was actually kidding.
UltraBooster
You mean they use the cupholders to NOT drink beer while driving?
LeumisRichardson
Have Hanz, your passenger, rip out the entire console with brute strength and sip from the plastic shell.
UltraBooster
Not gunna disrespect my baby like that
ShitstormsAreBrewing
2001 Subaru. The only cupholder in the car thats worth a damn is right behind the shifter.
ThreeSevens
2005 wrx...same issue. And the back seat got shafted too. Wife is always holding her drink so I can shift.
swellfie
2016 Subaru hasn't changed a thing.
ShitstormsAreBrewing
Glad I'm not missing out on anything then. What kind of subie do you have?
swellfie
Forester. The cupholder thing doesn't bother me much since there are also bottle holders in the door now. There's also enough room to shift.
KoncentrateKing
Same with my VW. I can't use the front drink holder if I want to hit an odd number gear lol
EverythingIsAGovernmentConspiracy
Someone drives a mk3
KoncentrateKing
*even number
Ulthirm
I was like "normally I can swap straight from 2 to 4 if I hit the right speed" but never tried on the opposite.
SwitchPup
In my VW GTI, I usually go 1-2-3-6. I accelerate pretty, uh, aggressively.
gamlingcs
I used to do something similar with my bike, but it was almost never on purpose.
hippocampus
I guess it's because european cars are not designed to hold cups. it's just not as common to drink in your car over here.
idontknowyoufromadam
As a European, it isn't? I usually have a cup of coffee or a water bottle along and sometimes both. Also, can easily use all 6 gears.
hippocampus
sure, there is usually 1 or 2 holders somewhere. But american cars seem like they are build around 5-6 cup holders.
idontknowyoufromadam
Fair enough. In the front I only have the 2 in the middle and a bottle holder in each door.
grumpyfinnishperson
I drive an alfa 156. No... Fucking... Cupholders.
looseasamoose
BMW 735 - same deal. Some shmuck paid over 100k for that car new and it didn't come with flippin cupholders
Thisisheavydoc
Could be cause it's essentially designed to chauffeur driven??
looseasamoose
Well it's not a cupholder but it has space for whisky in the back!
tiniweiner
Yeah I drive a 88 prelude. I feel you
governmentgavemeagun
That's because Alfas are cars for drivers, not mobile loungerooms.
AlexImguram
I have a 156 too!
grumpyfinnishperson
Right on, mate! It is a fun car to drive. Mine's '00 1.8 TS
