We can't live our lives afraid some kid with an ar is having a bad day

2 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 4

...that's not fantastic news?

I mean, maybe a relief, or it's good that he's facing consequences, at least it's not more bad news, but... not exactly fantastic?

It’s amazing how many of these mass shooters were known to authorities as a risk before they committed the crimes

Self locking doors? Panic buttons for teachers? WTF America!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Republicans will always point to mental health issues and then refuse to fund mental health treatment; will blame security at schools, anything to avoid saying, 'hey, maybe you shouldn't be able to buy an AR-15 for a child...'

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What a fucking idiot.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

JD Vance thinks these parents should have a greater say in the future of America.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I’m not surprised a man who named his kid Colt bought that kid an AR-15.

2 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

The one I feel sorry for is the kid named Colton with same last name, who attends that school.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I hope he rots in prison for decades and his mentally ill son never gets out of the asylum.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’d probably say something about the cursing of mentally ill children but they did kill 4 people

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"fantastic news" No, this is terrible news. Good they are trying to be accountable but this is just awful from every angle.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

The bio on this family reads like Florida Man’s idea of a drama. Parents divorced, father was abusive, mother was a meth addict, kid was bullied and into video games, dad try’s to get the kid into guns to keep him away from the games, kid uses the guns to take out his anger on random victims.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Remind me how the local LEO’s weren’t watching this? Or why dearest dad thought it was ok to go out & purchase this item?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And he named his son after a firearms manufacturer.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

Hey now, he could have named him after the malt liquor.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just 8???? The entirely school was in shock and saw their buddies and teachers killed!!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In addition to the loss of innocent people, Colin Gray will not cost $5-10M to prosecute by an estimate. He will tie up the Georgia justice system with lawyers because HE GAVE AN ASSAULT WEAPON TO A 14 YEAR OLD. Just like the shitty parents in Michigan.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He won't need access to mah guns if I buy him his own!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This man is as directly responsible to these murders as a person can be without actually pulling the trigger. I hope they bury him and make an example.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good. Fuck him.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We value guns more than lives in th US-of-A, folks, that's the honest truth. Get used to it for now, change it for tomorrow will ya? Who's with me? VOTE!!!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How did the 14 year old kid get any kind of rifle to school? Biked there with it, hid it somewhere...inside the school?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Four people dead because of this psychotic gun fetishist.

2 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 7

Who, strangely, has THE EXACT FUCKING FACE I thought he would have. 🤔

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Because his father went out & bought the rifle after the red flags were up. Dearest daddy should automatically never again be able to own any weapons. Or anyone in that household.

2 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

The father is the psychotic gun fetishist I speak of.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Wouldn’t wanna be banned from guns because someone who wasn’t me committed a massacre but the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree so…

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 18

If you were told that someone who wasn't you, but was your responsibility, was making dangerous threats about committing massacres, and then you went out and bought them a massacre machine for Christmas... Yeah you get a ban.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At this point what is your alternative recommendation? They knocked on the door talked to daddy about the threats. Not my lil precious he says. Dipstick then goes out & buys the lil shit a powerful weapon for Christmas 8 mos later. WTF. May he know the intense pain those families are experiencing. How many more kids die or grow up with PTSD?

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Then don't allow someone else unsupervised access to your guns or buy guns specifically for your young children. If you follow that advice, you won't be in this position and won't be banned from having guns. It's easy peasy.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Obviously in self entitled America unsupervised access doesn’t work. Hell this is the second parent who purchased a gun for their precious after being warned. Got to find a solution before everything gets taken away.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well it’s not and has never been all about you and your wants. Time to grow up.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The shooting was the fathers fault though

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I meant that more as I think suffering consequences outside of one’s own actions being a bit unfair

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No but it was his actions. Bought his mentally troubled 15 year old a gun AFTER the initial investigation.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate the fact that school shootings are still happening, but I love the recognition that their parents are partly responsible and they are being charged as well. Now if only we could recognize that Republicans, the NRA, gun manufacturers and gun stores are responsible and also should be charged….

2 years ago | Likes 176 Dislikes 13

Let's be clear though, they aren't responsible because they're his parents, but because they bought him the gun. It's an important distinction, because the responsibility would be the same is it was a friend that bought him the gun. Compared to a sort of "guilt by association" many on imgur call for, where the parents would be liable regardless their conduct.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Maybe someday the manufacturers to become responsible might force the manufacturers to do something.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then your opening into a new issue if manufacturers can be held liable for the actions of customers. If I drive a Toyota Corolla and run over a crowd of people killing several how is Toyota to blame? If I drink a bottle of Jack Daniels and decided to kill my neighbor how are they responsible when they get sued into the ground and dissolve causing mas spanic among it's huge fanbase?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Why would gun stores be responsible if they didn’t know? If they did they would definitely be responsible though

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

“Didn’t know” is a stretch considering how they by default pretty much lobby to have their industry what it is now. Jail them into the poor house and even death penalty. Everything they want for everyone else and to be able to operate with impunity should carry even harsher restrictions and loss of liberty just because they want to make everyone else live in fear so they can make money and play at being ammosexuals

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We were discussingthis earlier. Can someone explain why it was 4 charges of involuntary manslaughter and 2 charges of second degree murder? I would think it would either be 4 and 4, 2 and 2, or 4 and 0.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Based on statement at time of arrest and actual laws. A lawyer for that state can explain it. Plus these may just be placeholder charges until the investigation is complete.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Four total dead, 2 adults and 2 children. The dead children get the higher charge added due to their age.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think there were a few more kids at that school who suffered cruelty due to his actions. Everyone there should count. I can’t imagine having to live through something like that. Terrifying.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So the father was arrested because he allowed his son to have that gun. But why then isn't the governor arrested and all the Republicans who voted in the laws that allowed this kid to have this gun?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It is illegal for 14 year olds to have guns though, just saying.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, so the crime that the father broke was giving that kid that gun. Charging the father with murder makes it a crime for that father to not anticipate what the kid would do with that gun.
How is it that the father can be held liable for not anticipating what the kid might do, but not the politicians who did the exact same thing when they passed the law making it easier for everybody to get guns?
Sorry, but if this father is culpable for murder, then so are all these politicians.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because they didn’t buy a murderer a gun when told not to

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

They wrote laws that did exactly that. Sorry, but I think you need to work real hard in creating this distinction.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, they just maintain a system to keep killing children.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This is probably going to be Unpopular: the kid is 14. The kid needs to be charged as a juvenile. Because the kid, who murdered 4 people, is in fact a juvenile. The father needs to be charged for the crimes listed as the father had a legal responsibility for his child, namely, to prevent the child from getting his hands on firearms when already warned by the FBI that the child has made threat and may therefore be a danger.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 20

So what, he does 7 years and then goes free? How is that fair to the victims?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Nothing in this tragedy is fair, and 20 years of prison won't make it fair either. But maybe, if the criminal system were doing correctly its job, the kid killer will become a decent man.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s unpopular but I agree with you on this. He’s 14 years old, he’s very much a juvenile who made the kind of rash decisions a juvenile might make. The tragedy is that he had access to an AR-15 which enabled him to carry out those decisions. Without access to the gun does he still do what he did or does he eventually get help or grow out of it?

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

“Guns don’t kill people” but yeah, the access to firearms is what allows these people to kill, taking away access from them will anger those who wouldn’t have ever committed crimes with the guns (so try to not restrict those who most likely are not dangerous) but it would still prevent those crimes

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm kind of torn on this. I agree he's not mentally or emotionally old enough to be classified as an adult but he's certainly old enough to know killing is wrong. I wonder if charging him as an adult could be a deterrent to others? I'm undecided

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That's why he should be charged as a juvenile. He's old enough to know right from wrong. That's why juvie law exists. He is not developed enough to be charged with the same consequences as a fully developed adult. Georgia is a death penalty state. It's unconstitutional to sentence a juvenile to capital punishment. If that's unconstitutional, and that's the punishment for an adult, doesn't it follow that the child be charged as a juvenile?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

So if the prosecutor declines to seek the death penalty, you are ok with him being prosecuted as an adult?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

No. That's simply one logical route. The bottom line is he's 14. While he's responsible for his actions he's not responsible in the same way as a fully developed adult. The pre-frontal lobe isn't even close to being fully developed at 14. The kid can't make rational decisions the same way an adult can.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe there is a precedent now with charging the parents for their kid's action

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Not enough.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yes, but I'm shocked GA is following that trend. I'm slightly less embarrassed that I was born there.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To be clear, neither him or the Crumbleys (Oxford shooting) were charged for their kid's actions - they were charged for the actions they took themselves that made them legally culpable in the murders that their children carried out.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In both cases the parent(s) bought the kid the gun that was used, right?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, and both had been contacted by authorities regarding the threats made by their children and it appears neither took any actions to address it or help their child.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There should be more of a precedence of if your gun is stolen and used in a crime, you are also held liable. I know so many people that get their guns stolen because they are not securely kept. If you have the right, you should have the responsibility.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

I would disagree with this, same then would apply to a
Car being stolen. What I would say that if you fail
To report it stolen , or are just unaware, then yes.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No, not really. The actions done by the parents in Michigan could have just as easily been fine by a friend or something, it was their specific conduct not their relationship.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He definitely needs to be an example. Why would you buy *anyone an AR-15 AFTER you've been told by authorities he's been making threats to commit a mass shooting, much less a 14 year old.

Dad has the same level of responsibilities as a person hiring a hit man.

2 years ago | Likes 345 Dislikes 4

He also lied to the GBI, he told them his son never had access to guns unsupervised.

2 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Gun fetishization means you have to buy your angry son a gun or else the other kids will think he's weak and queer. This isn't exaggeration.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Because MAGA culture demands child sacrifice.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

As someone who lives in non crazy land WHY WOULD YOU BUY ANYONE AN AR-15. Just that to me is insane. If I met someone here that had a or multiple guns legally it would be an immediate red flag. I would classify it as someone with an obsession.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I mean he's a teenager, so why would you EVER buy him one but also especially AFTER

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Don't fucking tell my son what to do!"

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Michigan case set the bar first. And it's a good bar to set

2 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

It was, but this is a better prototype case. The ones in Michigan were just comic book villains. Ethan seemed to have realized the bad place he was in and asked to leave school that day. His mom hearing this and discovering that he had the gun with him still refused to come get them and demanded the school keep him in classes.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

By comparison this case seems to be a lot more mundane - gun nut parent giving a kid a gun instead of therapy was just the first line in the Crumley story but seems to be the whole deal here.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those parents (and this one) were just so fucking insanely irresponsible.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I'm not defending the guy at all but it wasn't a ar 15 all the news articles say it was a ar 15 like weapon people in general like to demonize the gun when in reality the news just loves to keep assholes like this in the news for months and people always remember the shooters and the gun and forget the school shooting ever happened

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 64

how would the media keep the shooters in the news without it reminding people that the shooting had happened?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It was not an AR-15 but was so similar that it's compatible with AR-15 parts and was listed as one in the bill of sale. This wasn't the difference between a Chevy and a Ford, it's the difference between a Chevy and a GMC that come with slightly different headlights and trim but the GMC versions fit just fine if you want to change.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Dumb as fuck

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you use a dildo attachment for your AR-15 or just fuck yourself with the barrel raw?

2 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

You are complaining about other people not remember the shooting but you are sitting and defending the gun from "type profiling"

Clearly showing your own priorities and hypocrisy there.

"Oh no wont somebody think of the poor guns getting demonized"....

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 1

Oh, sure thing, account that hasn't posted or commented a goddamn thing in 2+ years but broke the silence just to be a piece of shit about a school shooting.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

“It’s wasn’t an AR-15 is was a gun very similar to an AR-15.” Do you really think that makes a difference? It was an assault rifle and people died because it’s extremely easy to get one. Simple as that.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

nobody gives shit what brand your dild is

His 14 YEAR OLD son! Named Colt!

The point of charging the parents isn't that they provided the gun. The point is, this is the dad who raised a fucking psychopath. Do you expect the sort of dad whose son turns out to be a psychopath to do the good or right thing?

2 years ago | Likes 203 Dislikes 1

Unfortunately there is also a Colton Grey at that school. My guess is he’ll start going by his middle name. Colton I feel very sad for.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I noticed that too, pretty fucked up

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure it's after the Colt Rifle

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Do we know his middle name? I’d guess Browning or Winchester.

Definitely not browning.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I assumed it more so had something to do with a Colt revolver...ya know, given how the dude is so gun crayz he bought his red flagged teenage son an AR rifle...fuckin hell.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe he did though. The dad certainly has a long face now.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Lets not jump to conclusions here. We are rational folk here on imgur. Maybe the kid is named after the malt liquor.

probably drinkin it when he was concieved

This is a very fair point.
