My state also falls under "worst active anti-trans laws" which was a surprise as I wasn't aware of any such laws in my state. So I googled it, and found only one anti-trans law and lots of protections.....I'm not sure this map is accurate at all. The only "law" was the state supreme court supported the right for gender specific businesses to deny service, but not normal businesses.

Depends state to state of course but in FL the governor has declared that kids can be taken from gender affirming parents, kids can't undergo gender affirming care (hormonal not surgical), and those adults already transitioned cannot use bathrooms not matching their sex at birth. Some of the many new laws that are taking effect in that state.

Wyoming is an unusual case. They're comparatively socially moderate in a lot of cases, which you might not expect for a deep red state in the West. VA on the otherhand is a battleground state so it's already hyper-polarized and prone to extremism; and also has Liberty University and serious Christian Nationalist problems in the Southern part of the state. Lynchburg spreads poison everywhere here.

Update: Was grilling chicken outside while cooking inside (mashed taters, gravy, green beans), accidentally set grill on fire. Olive oil marinade + accumulated grease/drippings in bottom of grill = fire. Turned off gas, removed charred chicken, fire still not out after 5 minutes. Panic. Turned off propane tank, couldn't get disconnected & removed. Still fire, still panic. Sent Dad to find fire extinguisher, panic, dumped bowls of water on grill. Fire out, shrubbery and house didn't catch fire.

My former best friend has a trans son who is my Godson. She introduces him as him to new people but calls him she and her daughter in conversation with me. I called her a hypocrite to her face. I live in Washington where our governor made laws protecting trans and women’s rights almost immediately. He even protected other states from ever being able to use laws to go after those who flee to our state. We welcome all LGTBQ plus here and we love you and will protect you from bigotry and hate. The problem with this is that the divide isn't geographic. It's rural and urban. Rural areas overwhelmingly lean right wing and cities strongly lean left (or as far left as America ever leans, anyway). You can't split a country into two that way.
