Pretty sure interacting with sea turtles (touching feeding picking up young. Walking on or near nesting grounds) in a non rescue capacity (ie straws in airways) is illegal in most states due to what habits it can lead to that can be damaging for the many already endangered species of sea turtles. I know it for sure is in Hawaii.
Yea he seemed super casual about a leap I would mess up half the time. For sure no long step move for me. I’d over compensate and splat onto the seats or something
Jumping like that could go very wrong very easy, wet side on either end, or some debris, or ... Should pull a boat closer and then step on it, or step on the one next to it as middle step and then on it. I know a guy who had an accident like that (in his 30s, while living on the coast and around boats his entire life) and spent half a year in hospital.
Do Not Feed Wild Animals!!! How many times have we been told this since we were children? Unless it’s starving or in distress then of course feed it, but that’s it.
I mean, even then you're putting it at risk. Many animal control groups (often just cops) in various regions adopt a stance that anything that attacks humans should be put down under a doctrine of 'breeding out' aggression toward humans and not letting it teach the behavior to its young.
Habituating any animal to expect help from humans is dangerous to it. When they approach someone who isn't friendly, they can get understandably upset that help isn't coming when they expect it.
Looking up rescue groups in your area is probably a better risk. They can try and get animals the help they need and know how to avoid habituating it to human care.

Somehow, that cat decided against going after the fishes

Is the turtle disabled ? I was taught not to feed wildlife.
furballsoffury
Unless it's a cute little chimp monk that climbs on your lap and takes peanuts from your hand. And then you can pet him. Then it's ok.
nintendolunchbox
People feed animals all the time, I'm not being a crumugin. It was just something I was taught not to do as they might become dependent

But why?

True. But also seems unnecessarily risky, for anyone, let alone man his age.

May I offer advice to a bot account ? Ask questions instead of instructing. Show you are a leaning device if you want to change minds.
