I mean, that’s just plain stupid. Of course they are about immigration, racism and xenophobia is a core part of the gop platform, and militarizing law enforcement and normalizing police violence is hardly new. This escalation is new, but they’ve always been a problem since they were created out of post 9-11 panic
ICE has no leagal authority anywhere except at borders and international airports. anywhere else they are comitting the crime of impersonating a federal officer. execute them for their crime by using 'reasonable force' while placing them under citizen's arrest; as armed terrorists with a history of murder, it's reasonable to consider them an immediate danger to your life and that of your neighbors. normalize ICE corpse piles.
I love the people who rail against this kind of rhetoric, saying that it's "radical extremism" like this is what turns off moderate voters and will cost the left because it's scary to the average American. Well, the average American can go fuck themselves if that's the case. You're telling me the absence of state-sponsored murder and jack booted thugs is scarier than the presence of a few brown people?
Oi! Everyone devoting this, just cos they said two words that sound like being racist dont make it so. Check out the bloody history of The Black and Tans on Wikipedia....@SciFiGuy2018 knows what hes talking about
I won’t, because you’re not. Except instead of targeting Irish people and independence sympathizers, ICE indiscriminately goes after anyone they feel like brutalizing in the moment.
I agree with this guy's message but what I dont understand is Americans and their fervour for political figures/celebrities/personalities/etc. Someone please explain the purpose of political rallies to me, because I really don't get it.
Cheap advertising basically, running for office is expensive, rallies are a relatively cheap way to hype people up and get news coverage or generate clips for memes etc At least that’s the theory, they do feel like kind of a waste of time
Yep. And I still don't understand why democratic presidents voted to increase their power. Oh wait I can; most centrists wants a police state (but one that don't harass white people). It's the easiest way to know if you are talking to an asshole liberal or an actual good person: Do they think cops are "good guys"?
Are you telling me that being a moderate/centrist and letting republicans/zionists/blue-lives-matter/billionaires decide my policies is not a winning strategy?!?!
(Constant) Reminder that the US's 'centrists' are right/far right. The Overton Window is slowly creeping around the corner of the house and some americans hilariously still call the democrats left. That's why there's so much pearl clutching about Zohran, dude is scaring the establishment something fierce.
Imagine the state of the country, when a speech such as this is both necessary and loudly cheered. Everything he says should be absolutely obvious to everyone, and still...
I, like many others, will be following the upcoming midterm elections with interest, from across the pond. I truly hope the MAGA crowd won't be able to sabotage or steal elections, like they're so clearly trying to, but I fear they will.
I'm personally expecting a net neutral election at best and likely a red wave. Somehow the vast majority of people are just completely disconnected from the reality that elections matter.
People in the US still haven't figured out that invalidating a citizen's vote because they are a felon is a terrible thing, what makes you believe that they would intuitively understand tolerating fascist policies and behaviours is also a terrible idea?
Actually we are the ones making a lot of these laws. Many of them end up as questions on the ballot and people vote them down because they believe propaganda.
See, they've suckered you in on that. We aren't the ones making them. We just vote on them. We don't get to actually make the laws and there's usually a bunch of knock on effects that we don't know about because the general public isn't fluent in legalese.
Like seriously think about it for 2 seconds. A party of lawmakers doesn't want a certain demographic to vote... All they need to do is make something that demographic does more than any other illegal or instigate that demographic into doing something illegal and bam, on demand voter suppression. Also, if felons can vote, what's the worst thing they can do voting? Vote for someone you don't like? It's not like they can make any criminal laws with their vote.
They have already stolen the election. Both the voting machines themselves (and by extension, the software that controls them) and the machines that tally the votes are owned by GOP donors.
No they aren’t, Jesus Christ do some goddamn research
One company out of dozens is, and pretty much everyone dropped them the second that happened. Our electoral system is hyper diverse and decentralized for this very reason

Abolishing ICE isn’t enough.
Anyone who has worked with ICE in any capacity should not be allowed to have any position of power in any future job.
We don’t want these trigger-happy dipshits to be hired as police.
whereismymind86
Well of course, that goes without saying

Very well put. To compare it to something external makes it "unamerican"

yes. democrats especially the leadership understand that cops protect their property. they are complicit in the problem

They’ve sabotaged every single election going back at least to 2000. The trick is to get enough people to show up and overwhelm the fuckery

Minnesota lets you vote after you’ve served your sentence for a felony.

Irrelevant, the fact that they lose the right to vote at all provides a mechanism for systemic voter suppression. Why do you all not get that?

If it does he gets to continue to destroy the entire country
