What the dog weighs is mildly irrelevant. What did your vet tell you the dog should weigh?
I've had to put more than one pet on a diet. You follow the nutritional information on your pet food for what the dog should weigh. With the caveat that if the dog is a snot ton overweight, you don't reduce the amount they're fed all at once. You reduce by 10-20% of what they're currently fed for a week, until you're a at the amount of food for the maintenance weight the dog should be.
