Oh my stars!
It's been forever.
I spent a lot of time watching this for some reason.

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’ve still got this as my screensaver on windows 11

Ours had an ending and a plot tho... the 1990s were pretty cool, movies told a story, revealed more and more of the plot and then came to a conclusion.

If ever stuck in a maze always go to One direction or the other so always turn the right or always turn to the left and you will eventually find your way out

"Hall of Tortured Souls"

Couldn't play these.. Wolfenstein..the original, gave me motion sickness.

Luckily it hasn't been the same with later games with better graphics.

God damn it... i never even realised that.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That took me back... rooms.

i think this is where you can download: https://www.screensaversplanet.com/screensavers/3d-maze-461/

I used to make custom images for the walls. My favorite was putting black with stars fir space, and it looked like you were just traveling around space

2 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There was a playable version as an easter egg in Excel

2 days ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Was it called Wolfenstein?

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

HOVER LIVES RENT FEEE IN MY MIND

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I didn't like this screensaver as a kid because I was convinced there was gonna be a jumpscare at some point.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Back in the 70s using the county timeshare HP3000 mainframe, us students each got an account to learn about computers using a 110 baud modem and a teletype machine terminal (later added a CRT but still needed to dial up the mainframe). Somebody created a text adventure game called "Advent" (name space limitation). All the computer class students got on board and we all started adding levels to this dungeon style adventure game where we roamed through McDonald Fries and got lost in the maze!

What you seak is in the traah in the deepest level of daggorath

I miss the old games.... anyone remember hover?

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

im still on windows 7 as it is the best of all OS

2 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's an incredibly risky thing to do. There's no security support for it. As bad as they've fucked up modern windows, running on 7 still is way riskier. I wouldn't do any personal banking or use any important passwords on that machine. You basically have an open back door.

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I ran XP until Microsoft stopped offering support for the OS. I still miss it.

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can still download this and install it on your windows 10/11 PCs! Screen saver functionality wasn't removed, we just stopped needing it so it got buried in menus. I think screensaversplanet has all of the old classics. I have pipes set right now and the matrix code on my ultra wide is awesome. Warning: I think because of how they were designed, the visuals are sped up on modern hardware.

Went did we ever need them

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_burn-in Literally any time from the birth of computers to the release of the iPhone, and to a lesser extent today. Nowadays it's usually handled by power management and more resilient screen tech but it can still occur.

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Phones can still get burn in on the screens, but yep still using the matrix code screensaver, have been since I found it fuck knows how long ago.

We need a turbo button that scales the processor back to 200mhz I guess

I don't remember this, but we fought demons in The BackDOOMs

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

And we killed nazis in it

2 days ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

this is the 3D Maze Screensaver that came with Windows 95, not Wolfenstein 3D - those bricks were blue.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

More than just blue

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

yes, they also came in grey, purple, cobblestone, and decorated with Nazi sigils.

Pretty sure this is wolfinstein 3d not duke nukem

2 days ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 6

That’s the joke.

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 13

It's a screensaver not a game

2 days ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

2 days ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

It isn't either Duke Nuke 'Em 3D or Wolfenstein 3D. It's one of the Windows 95 default screensavers. There's no enemies, it's just a maze that the computer would wander through automatically

2 days ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

I apparently didn't have that one then, good to know, was probably still using dos at the time

2 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Watchmen and the Robo Robbers comes to mind. I'm just sure no one remembers. But maybe Ken's Labyrinth.

2 days ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For Macs .. AfterDark screensavers .

2 days ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

PC had those as well.
Fun fact - Flying toasters screensaver works with modern Windows as well.
Just plop the .scr to system32 and Bob's your uncle.

My favorite one and city scapes

2 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved setting custom .BMP pictures as the wall, ceiling and floor textures. A solid black line on white square was fun to mess with folks.

2 days ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

This was also a playable game

2 days ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

It was?

2 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I beg your finest pardon ?

2 days ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Wolfenstein probably

2 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I played that game for so many hours and barely got past the first level. It was amazing for a very young gamer (me).

2 days ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

It was?! Because I could swear I once played it and everybody told me it must have been a dream and I eventually agreed that it must have been.

If it’s wolfenstein it doesn’t count. It was this, only controllable.

2 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

you may be thinking of Hover! 3D, which also used the textures (and I think engine?) of the 3D Maze screensaver. Came with MS Plus! pack.

1 day ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The two of us may be hallucinating here but I'm pretty sure I played something a least very close to this

2 days ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’m with you both. I remember watching my brother and sister play this in my sister’s room growing up.

2 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I also played this - for hours! Probably days or weeks of my life!

On the family Sony Vaio PCV.
