I was going to note that brushing a son's hair is not so common as a daughter's. But then I remembered how my dad would comb my hair (if needed) before going into church or before pictures or such. So yeah, that is as applicable to this dad as his daughter. He may have other failings, but sure seems like he done good
Youre not wrong, and its not something I have ever asked others about. I have to imagine my mom helped me comb my hair when I was real small, but no memory of it happening later in life, but when we would stay at my cousins while my mom was a single parent I watched as my aunt brushed/combed my cousins hair every night after showering, both the boys and girls. I thought it a bit odd, but in recent years im thinking its more common than I realized
I can only take one step. I have one baby photo. The water is free here, so it doesn't count. As for my two sons, they would take every step like that girl
Friend group did one of these exercises years ago and people found out how abused some others were as kids, even tho we had never really talked about it.
Yeah, I remember a couple years ago we were talking about our dad’s and somehow the conversation turned weird, and I remember saying ‘ya, well, when your dad is beating up your brother in a drunken rage’…
"So there i am, trying to lightly fry fish filets at 2 in the morning, and there's my dad just swinging those jumper cables at me. And I'm laaaaughing and laaaaughing..."
Ive never met my fathers father. He committed suicide when my father was young. Met his step father many times. Not a nice guy. Might be what screwed my father up causing him to be an abusive alcoholic.
Bro I was crying 10 seconds in. My parents weren't bad or anything, maybe sheltered me a bit but as a father, I'm glad I can give my son the world but wish I could give him the universe so I'll continue to strive...
Yup, yup... as a man and when you get to be a father... this is a video you feel in your soul. I miss my dad, He gave so much so that we could be and live better than him.
Someone talk to me about the blinds open at night, and people being able to see into your house like a fish tank. How does one become unbothered by that?
ALL the Dutch homes are like that. People were actually complaining that tourists from the nearby tram tracks were looking into the houses and taking pics and people felt their privacy was violated. I mean yeah sure, but close the damn curtains!
I'm not the original commenter but even then I try to pull the curtains closed on our back doors so the damn bears and coyotes can't see in and think glass = open portal into near, warm cave!
I blame my dad but my dad was to blame (who's first words upon seeing their daughter is "why do you have a pink hat on my son?")
And yet I was also in my 30s when I started to realize just how fucked up my childhood was.
I was 43 when I realized how fucked up being made to sleep on a closet floor and a bathroom floor was.
I had a mattress, that's all I was told I was required to be given. My therapist looked like she was about to cry when I told her last year. That's what made me realize.
If your username is correct, you grew up to have children of your own and by what you write i can tell you're doing your best not to repeat that with your children. You not only survived, you learned and changed. I hope you can remember to feel proud of yourself!
mcglirkymeow
I could do 4 steps. Good on this dad for breaking that cycle. I'm sure it wasn't easy.
KumquatKoppa
People do not realize that the times where people had children to work in family businesses were not that long ago.
We've made incredible strides forward, even if we take a few steps back, sometimes.
Mobat555
Welp my grown ass almost 50 year old man cried
Huor
This dad FUCKING CRIED, man.

It appears that she does understand...

She understands that it hurts. The same way everyone understands that knife in the hand hurts. But few people understand what it feels like.

Bravo to you all.

Her steps start getting shorter like she is waiting for him to catch up.

The heartbreak on his daughter's face with every step she took away from him.

I'm sure it's a totally different situation, but I have never met my mother and I would like more context on this guy.

Onions, many onions. But why do people post these moments on the internets?
Snooj
Because a lot of people out there aren't taking those steps forward and it's good to know you aren't alone.
FraudulentPepsi
No one is going to like this, but these are a trend and there are lots and lots of them on tiktok. Yes, I go there so you don't have to.

So we can learn to be better by example.... hopefully

Because the internet isnt just for horrors committed by America and porn. Sometimes, people want to be human beings too.

And to be clear, i realize i just disparaged sex workers inadvertently. My apologies. I will do better.

For points! Glorious glorious points!

Come live in the Netherlands :) it will be weird at first but you'll get used to it. You just learn to ignore it.

I wish I knew how to feel that free.

On my phone I make the video full screen then click the audio button in the bottom right corner that seems to work

Thanks, but I think you misunderstood. I wasn't capable of turning on my audio, due to situation.

Someone asks a bunch of a bunch if questions that all start with "Take a step forward..."
They're things like "if your dad has brushed your hair", "if you ever had an empty fridge", and "if you met your dad's dad".
The girl's dad doesn't move, and when she realizes what that means, she hugs him.
I didn't realize how fucked up my childhood was until I was well into my 30s, but I don't blame my dad for any of it.
marquettegoldeneagles

ImAWeirdMom
Yep I am SO PROUD of the childhood they have had
I make sure to have one on one time with them frequently so they can all feel seen and their childhoods have been stable and good.
I refuse to let them suffer.
WagonOfSolidMonekys
sometimes its the dad's fault.. sometimes its not. something about this vid tells me the granddad in this was not a good parent.
Amandalorian
You got it. Hence why that was the final step the girl didnt take. He made sure she would never meet that awful man.
foreverinchains
Well, in my case, it wasn't my dad's fault because he died.
m0rose
Same. And it was my fault for repressing the grief for so very long. I guess sometimes we make mistakes while raising ourselves, too.
AudioBot13
That kind of sounds like his fault
foreverinchains
It was actually Denison Mines' fault, but that's a whole fucking story.
