This is a gadget from 2014.
It is the NOKIA Treasure Tag! It shows up on your smartphone's map app, and you can make it beep for close-quarters localization. Now that was a nifty idea, quite innovative, and several years before some other company "introduced" their version as something new.
It was made to work with... Windows Phone! The one pictured is a Lumia 535 from 2015, an entry-level model with a 5" screen.

I had one. Worked great with MS Apps. But had like 3 other apps and a crappy camera. When I traded it in for an Iphone I got like 10 bucks.

App support was its biggest crutch, that and also having a shrinking team to support mobile development. I remember when Wyze released an app for the store, and it was so poorly optimized that my phone would die after an hour of use with the app running. Good times.

Several models, for several years, spanning the range from entry-level to flagship. They introduced many features and technologies that would only be seen on Android an iPhones many years later.

I think the entry level ones were what soured the whole line, the carriers were giving those "free" with contract, and they had RAM and storage pruned back to nothing, so the minute you tried getting an app working on them, it was crash and lockup city. If you just wanted a phone with a camera, they had okay battery life, but at entry level, they were just too compromised to be very "smart" in use.

It was great. In 2012 windows Phone had NFT and wireless charging; in 2014 they had a 41-megapixel camera with optical stabilization and a Xenon flash; in 2015 they had USB-C; Their batteries were user-replaceable; They used to come with a Social Hub app that integrated your FB and Twitter feeds but were sued to discontinue it; Google, the "don't be evil company", inserted code into their services to identify and worsen the experience of Windows Phone users /2

2/ and discontinued the WP apps of any companies they bought, like Waze; Apple acted similarly and "influenced" journalists to bash WP incessantly; and of course, internal stupid management by MS did not help too.

BTW, my 2015 Lumia 950XL still takes better pictures with its 20 megapixel camera with OIS and Zeiss F1.9 lenses than my 2023 Android with its "50 megapixel" camera does.
